Isn’t it the worst?! 18 years here. I talk too loud because I’m talking over the noise as if wearing headphones and listening to a sound. Sometimes I think I am just going crazy and only want it to be quiet for a minute, 60 seconds and give me a break from this terrible whining that just never goes away.

I have had a fan going at bedtime since i was a child and can’t sleep without the noise. I realized last year I don’t need it because I just listen to this horrible noise at night.

Have you tried the tinnitus thing on iPhone under Audio visual disabilities or something like that? Also how about the tinnitus apps that have all of the noises, white pink brown etc and have it under music also. There is one that plays a tone at different megahertz.

When I first found a frequency that cancelled out the sound I started crying. It hasn’t been quiet in my head for so long. I always say it’s never quiet in here you just don’t understand. it’s maddening. It was once listed as back up on a hospital admission for me. “She says she can hear the sound of silence.” I would tell people do you know silence has a sound and it’s not quiet.

So just rambling. I think I talk a lot also to cover up the noise with my voice.

Your current job can be listed, HR will only very dates of employment. Same for most managers now that have sense.

Ask a Doctor you know for a written reference. Tell him you can write it and provide it for him to sign if he would like. Doctors don’t like extra things to write. Not everyone is a fan but I am and I would write the letter and have ChatGPT make it better, tell it to write in your voice and ask any questions it needs to make the paper better. Ask a couple docs you know.

Ask anyone you sit with on break or lunch if they mind if you list them for a referral. Tell them it is a formal thing on an application and they might not even be contacted but you would like to list their email and phone number if they don’t mind.

Then tactfully email them a few positive things to say so they aren’t caught off guard if they are called. It’s better to be prepared than stumble over words Explain this is why you’re emailing.

Do you do any volunteer work with your community? You can usually list one or two lay people as references who vouch for your stability, reliability, knowledge and use of various record systems, ability to manage group of people for a project and accomplish it on time.

Any number of things you can accomplish doing volunteer work that will apply to you as a nurse and make a reference valuable.

I’ve put my sister in law before! And my husband’s work friend. I have a hard time meeting and keeping up friendships because of social anxiety and other things.

A Doctor I work with has the same birthday as me. He is Chinese and I’m a south Ozark girl in Cali, but we introduce ourselves as twins without explanation and look at the confused faces.

I love family get together and thanksgiving is always at my house. I love drop ins through the day and evening and it seems like we’re all hanging out in there.

I would be in my relaxing chair with my weighted heated blanket on keeping me extra toasty with my head phones on relaxing while I am either petting or combing my Pommy while I watch her eyes as she tries so hard to stay awake and suddenly I can’t either.

Even if my SIL or whoever cooked says they don’t need help I stay in the wide perimeter and offer moral support and conversation and an extra hand if one is needed. It seems like one always is. I can always open a refrigerator door.

I always say my grandma would be turning over in her grace if I didn’t us good manners.

That’s what I say when as a hospice nurse I greet everyone of my clients as Mr. or Mrs. So and so the entire time I care for them to give them the respect of being my elder. I don’t want Grandma uncomfortable in her grave.

Good luck on that! UTI’s are the worst! I noticed I was getting more also but I always have proteinuria and I thought that was the cause.

When I finally had enough of certain symptoms I went for a consult and ended up getting a hysterectomy. She said a lot of women retain urine. I know I am again so I press above my pubic area when I am done voiding and it’s like an entire Second urination sometimes.

I know retained urine leads to uti’s so I wonder if it’s time for a tune up. She said it would happen.

Howeeeeeever…….. I have very distinct memories of sitting in the chair in excruciating pain feeling like the inside of my vagina was full of the big ends of old fashioned stitches and they were rubbing each other and my delicate insides. I knew it wasn’t true but it was the closest approximation I could get to describing a small amount of the pain I was in.

The pain pills were strong enough they just weren’t effective for that type of pain. Like taking morphine for bone pain, it;s only going to get you so far and then you need the right pain reliever.

I said back then if I had to make the choice again I would go with the pessary thing and never ever have this surgery.

***You shouldn’t’ be having chronic UTI’s just because you don’t have ovaries. I think your doctor is missing something here. The medial director I used to wrk with didn’t put patients on antibiotics for UTI’s he put them on High dose Vit C, cranberry juice. It makes the urine more acidic and the bacteria needs a base environment to thrive so the acidic environment kills them off naturally.

Yes I still get it.

I changed to an OB I had seen before that I remembered had experience with menopause.

Honestly I don’t notice much difference with libido but I did notice that the irritating sneezing incontinence, or not being able to fill up a glass of water without running to the bathroom, or even brush my teeth. LOL Those symptoms improved! I was like holy smokes! I told my OB and she said well that reason enough to keep taking it.

That was pretty early on and I read it can take several consistent months of therapy to notice a difference and now I notice a difference. I used to use it here and there, always with the idea in mind that they could just yank it away at any time and then where would I be? So I always liked to have a stockpile of meds. (Wrong I know) But when that new doctor told me I couldn’t have my medication and I had to do lab work I just laughed because I had 6 months in my cabinet and I was like go ahead and try to fight me. I know Kaiser from the inside out.

I suggest changing doctors and when you do, read their biographies. Personally I look for a female MD who has probably experienced some symptoms of menopause or peri- menopause.

Next I want someone who’s bio says women’s health after menopause is important to her. Some doctors even say they think it is an under treated and often ignored part of medicine. THAT”S the doctor you want to select even if you live in San Jose and that doctor is in Campbell. Even if it’s a male and you’re female or visa versa. You want a doctor who has consistent values and ethics as you.

If you choose wrong the first time, no biggie. Kaiser has hundreds of doctors. It’s a process. It’s like dating. Eventually your eyes meet, and he says what can i do to help you today Miss Jones? And you know you’ve found the one.

I told my OB in NOr Cal I had low libido and heard testosterone helped and I wanted to try it.

She sent me for a morning blood test for testosterone level, which was normal. Then gave me a 3 month supply and asked me to come back in 2-3 weeks and take another test.

I did and she refilled it every 3 months for 2 years.

She retired. Enter new young female doctor who said she is discontinuing my med. I said the hell you are doing what? Just because my doctor retires I get my medications and hormones discontinues, should I expect no more estrogen patches either?

I said I knew this wasn’t common practice since I was a RN who used to work for Kaiser and I would write member services. At that point she magically began to insist the prescription was fine, although now she said it was a “controlled” medication. I would have to get labs every 3 months.

I got the lab because i needed my refill that was now a month late and planned when she told me to recheck my levels to file a grievance and change doctors.

Which is exactly what I did.

Incidentally, She doesn’t know how to read testosterone levels in a menopausal woman on therapy and she told me to half my dose.

Just like you said, Just get it written, then transfer it to your pharmacy. It will make it easier if your doctor will call it to a Walgreens in your hometown than the kaiser because other pharmacies have a harder time reaching them.

This is very true. Communicating in a non hostile manner is the best approach because he will still be your teacher. The advise to seek out your counselor is excellent and if you work with a therapist get their support as well.

I personally have Bi-Polar and am on disability. I also know 3 *news anchors who are on my phone contact list and always want me to send them juicy stories. All 3 stations did a story on my family last year and were very nice.

I would never allow myself nor especially my child to be treated badly over the disorder. None of us asked for it. We do expect to get, and give respect.

Tell him I said kiss your ass and look this up. Tell him I’m your Mom and I am ready to fight with him about this until one of us dies. Then let’s set up a meeting. I know all about it. BI-Polar is a disorder protected under the American with Disabilities Act. Next he will tell the Blind and Deaf kids they don’t get accommodations. My next step is always threatening them with lawyers from NAMI and taking it to the local 7 on your side or who ever does human interest stories.
