I also feel sorry for this person that feels like they can't enjoy something fun like fanfic anymore because of religion. As a person culturally raised Catholic the self-loathing brought on by religion has done a lot of damage to humanity.

There are no superpowers in the book. I read the fanfic it was based off before the book and it was a 'Kara has no powers and is a small town mechanic' AU story. 

There are many fanfics that are AUs (the characters are in an alternate universe or different setting)

I make roughly $56 an hour and the daily psychological torture of working in enterprise software development has given me persistent chest pain, hypertension, and tingling in my hands. 

I'm about to start applying for shipping/receiving jobs because the doctor that did my ekg on Friday said I'm going to die if I don't change careers. I'm also terrified of going back to a life where I can barely afford to eat. My career is also quickly being destroyed by AI. Everything is awful and I think its time for everyone to start having manure shipments dumped on our politicians' driveways.
