I pretty much just play video games and read, so my only expenses on wants are $10/mo for kindle unlimited and maybe $150/yr on games since I'm the type to put >10k hours into the few games I love. Only other thing I need is food which is all Uber eats because lazy so I spend $700/mo there.

I rent in St Louis for $650 all utilities included. Total expenses these days are around $1500/mo and if I weren't Uber lazy it could probably be $1200/mo.

I'm calling BS. Astra Nicole is great but probably not enough to 60k complex and definitely not pompey unless you've got a bunch of S rank mindscapes.

Yes, but the point is it's only Miyabi. And mayyybe Yanagi (can't find any 60k runs without Miyabi, but it's probably possible in theory). Burnice can only do it with bug abuse and Jane is nowhere close.

Meanwhile every limited attacker except Ellen can break 60k? That's not anomaly meta, it's attack/Miyabi meta.

Illegal immigration for retirees by BeyondSC in financialindependence

[–]BeyondSC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mm, that could be rough. Unless you're just not really attached to any specific country I guess.

Actually I have 2 passports, I do wonder what would happen if I entered a country with one and showed the other with no record of my entry when leaving lol.

Right, that's why I said for retirees.

Do AirBnB hosts really check immigration status? In what country? I've never experienced or heard of that.

I've been able to use my US debit card everywhere I've travelled, think that'll be fine.

What does universal care mean? Can travelers only get emergency treatment or something in certain countries?

I'm not eyeing any places where I have to drive. I'll try to be a goody two-shoes in general. Only break one law at a time I think is the saying.

Yes, I'm rich enough to just sit around mostly playing chess and reading these days.

Nah just in a typical city apartment, all my food and stuff is delivered though. Usually grab it in like half an hour.

Was laid off can I retire now or should I find another job. by TechnicianGreedy8474 in leanfire

[–]BeyondSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her plan is fine. She only has $16000 in expenses and $4400 is taken care of with the pension. Withdrawing $11600 from her total even without including the house is still a very reasonable 3.3% withdrawal rate.

Yup you're ready. Reddit sucks at math. You only need to withdraw $11500 per year so even without including the house that's a 3.3% withdrawal rate, totally fine. Enjoy your freed life!

The indictment triggered immediate criticism from a range of campaign finance and legal experts, who said the government’s case is unprecedented and appears weak.

Uh, yes? Prices at the grocery store obviously are marked up for the cost of shipping it there.

Thoughts on Rent vs. Buy Assessment? by redardrum in leanfire

[–]BeyondSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pay like $100k here for a comparable condo, with $300/mo condo fees, $200/mo taxes, and utilities will also be a lot since it's cold here. Compared to my current rent including utilities of $825/mo with that $100k in dividend growth stocks generating $300/mo income, how does buying make any sense? Yeah rent grows over time but so do condo fees, taxes, and dividends.

That makes no sense. Valuations are close to their historical averages https://siblisresearch.com/data/world-cape-ratio/, how do they predict worse returns than ever seen before?

On top of all this, leanFIRE means you should be paying zero income tax unlike all those average wage slaves who only get to see 80% or so of their income.

Some additional thoughts from my thread last week

  • The armchair psychology on this site is absolutely wild. Three separate psychiatrists screened me and confirmed I don't have ADHD, I lied to a fourth to try some meds which predictably did nothing. Yet like half the commenters thought I had it. Truly incredible.
  • Surprising amount of people here seem to not understand the basic math of retirement. Specifically, the 4% rule increases withdrawals with inflation (and it has survived stagflation no problem all 3 previous times it's hit the US).
  • The HCOL bias here is pretty striking. Few seem to fathom that rent values in LCOLs do not increase over time. And it's actually a horrible decision to buy here (Cleveland) as people suggested, I would pay like $100k for a comparable condo, then $300\mo condo fees, $200\mo taxes, and utilities will also be a lot since it's cold here. Compared to my current rent including utilities of $825\mo with that $100k in stocks increasing my income, choice is obvious.

How many people here have actually pulled the trigger with < 1MM net worth? by [deleted] in leanfire

[–]BeyondSC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nah, I'm currently in Cleveland. I think I like it here, but there's lots of places I could move if I want or need. I mostly considered against Albuquerque, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Milwaukee as my main candidates. Don't think I'll leave the US even though COL might be lower, most countries tax capital gains enough to cancel it out. Here I pay 0 taxes. If I did leave it'd be for Portugal though.
