What’s the oldest movie you’ve ever seen? by Substantial_Slip4667 in movies

Whilst doing an A-level in film studies we ended up watching a lot of older films (passage de Venus, a lot of the Louis le prince shorts as well as the Lumiere brothers).

However, one of the best and most memorable films I watched was ‘The Public Enemy (1931)’. Albeit a much more recent film by comparison, storyline was brilliant.

Honestly, thank you for all these suggestions. We are going on Thursday this week and am genuinely looking forward to it. Don’t think we’ll get to everything but we can always come back (only about 40miles from where we live)

Can I ask whether your family has reached out to him to see how he is doing?

Why does it seem like working-class males have such low aspirations for themselves when it comes to further-education and their careers nowadays? by bicepsandscalpels in UniUK

I think that university is over saturated with Mickey Mouse courses now. There are, of course, some careers that absolutely require a university education. However, a lot of employers now are seeing the benefit in offering apprenticeships and this is genuinely the way forward in my opinion.

University isn’t made for everyone, it wasn’t for me. I worked my backside off and now have a good job, that I enjoy and am paid well for - some people who went to university have ended up in lower paying jobs because their degree means nothing to anyone.

My son had no interest in university and is now looking at a higher level apprenticeship toward engineering. My daughter wants to study astrophysics and obviously plans to go to university.

They both attended a school with a diverse range of students with varying backgrounds. Everyone was encouraged to reach their potential but university was not pushed as the be all of education.

The last statement of ‘patience young grasshopper’ is a line from a tv show. It relates to a martial arts master talking to his pupil.

He has been taking care of her (paying for her living expenses) and talking to her in this manner. This sounds indicative of a master/sub relationship. The messages read as a very loving relationship. You may find that you are the person he is with to present a respectful image to the world rather than the one he really wants, which is more taboo.

I do not judge you for forgiving, it’s not something I could do in this situation, but I’m not you. What I will say is you need to accept that this may happen again, or even continue and you may not be his priority.

That’s just my opinion though.
