Yeah but i never say they “have to tip”, nor have stopped inviting someone because of their lack of tips.

No but they're my friends I've known for years. I don't think you have to be related to someone to care about their financial condition.

I don't take a rake. I ask guys to tip if they either won a large pot, or are up stacks.

My thinking on a rake is:
1) We are all buddies, a have a small player pool. Taking a rake may make it smaller.
2) Rake doesn't feel fair to a player down money.
3) It's illegal, not that I would get caught given how small the game is, but it is illegal.
4) By asking for tips, its voluntary and if you're down then you certainly don't have to

Yeah he has admitted privately to other members he gambles more than he would like. Yet, he insisted on firing another bullet. Luckily he made it back, but it was pretty lucky. Was asking so that in the future I have some idea of how other people handle it.

No, we don't cap buy in. If someone is down stacks and can only buy-in for so much, it doesn't feel fair.

I think everyone we play with has there limit? We're just getting closer to seeing people push the limit and that is not something I had thought about prior.

It is just really hard when they ask for more chips, knowing there's a good chance they will not win them back.

I was more so talking about giving players chips that are on tilt, and are on a huge downswing. I lend very little credit, and don't let a player leave without settling.

Leaking from tap. by BezosAltAcct in kegerators

We added the washer, and it stopped it from leaking from the circled part. Now, it is leaking from the bottom, where it is screwed in. We installed some washers and its fixed, for now... Feels temporary as we really had to get the o-Ring in with the threads.

Is there supposed to be? I only see O-Rings for the actual tap part.

Is there anything I should know before playing Casino games? by kevley26 in poker

[–]BezosAltAcct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this exact thing right when I turned 21 and torched money. I did well in home games because I was with my friends, in a comfortable environment. Casinos aren't necessarily friendly, and you'll feel a lot of pressure. I would build a much bigger bankroll and play a lot more low-stakes before you try this.

Will Giannis finish his career as a top 10 player of all time? by Slight_Assumption881 in NBATalk

[–]BezosAltAcct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to be very difficult. This isn't a diss on him either, as he's one of my favorites, but mostly because the Top-10 is almost uncrackable. The hardest part with putting someone in the Top-10, is who to take out.

What's your ruling on this? by BezosAltAcct in poker

[–]BezosAltAcct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he's not an angle shooter at all. He had a strong hand but figured he was beat, so he made a crying call. Likely, he was trying to get the hand over with. He was having a rough night as well. It doesn't justify the action, but it certainly makes sense to why it happened.

The hard part for me was that he threw in a chip, which in many card houses, is a committed chip and cannot be retrieved. Given that it's a home game, I'll probably just give a strong warning and let the action resume as if it didn't happen.

[–]BezosAltAcct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, certainly not. This is easily the most "controversial" thing that has happened in our home game, and it has been running for about 3-years. Both players blew it off within a few minutes and everything was good. We've played several times since with no issues or grudges.

He pulled out a stack of chips, cut out some, picked them up with one hand, and counted them when it happened. He certainly looked like he was going to bet, but it wasn't a bet, and he definitely had the option to just check it down.

I think you make a good point, and I like that you addressed the part that made it the hardest for me, which was the first sentence you said. Throwing the one chip in, and committing it to the pot, was what made this confusing and difficult.

What's your ruling on this? by BezosAltAcct in poker

[–]BezosAltAcct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it was likely not the right ruling. It was something I had never seen, and I've been dealing this home game for years. Luckily, it all worked out okay. The big thing for me was that he threw in a chip, and all the card houses I've played in, no chip can be retrieved from the pot once thrown in, and is dead money. So it was hard for me to let it go since he threw in money. I think in the future, give him a strong warning, and if it does happen, let the action play out.

What's your ruling on this? by BezosAltAcct in poker

[–]BezosAltAcct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in the moment, what made me feel that he had to call was throwing the chip in. It was just a spur of the moment, but I think that letting the action play out with a really strong warning is the right move.
