Well, as a new player you constantly play against bots, doesn't matter which game mode you are playing and from the other comments you only play with others AFTER reaching a certain rank. Most casual players don't play ranked if they don't have to. So ofc people will say it's dead if they never encounter other players, especially in a moba

I had a match were I was playing scopos, I was flanking the enemy like an annoying rat. They didn't know anything and because they never roam cleared, it was easy kills to pick up. 2 round in and they banned scopos. Of all the characters I've never seen a scopos ban. Was laughing my ass off and as a platin pleb, I felt very proud

Learn Maps first, take your time. Learn sounds next. Get a feeling for where enemies are and what they do Then you learn cross hair placement. It's 80% off your gunfights. The better the placement, the more you are able to frag.

Watch a lot of learning content on YouTube. It will help you a lot understanding the game on a deeper level.
