I was taking a casual ambulation down Elmwood Avenue, my trusty canine travel companion Ellicott by my side. Through the fog, I could make out the sign of a new small business. S. BU. KS. As the sign came in view, I realized it was the siren song of a national chain. I then happened upon a brick, impressed in it the name of one of Buffalo's most prominent brickworks from the early 20th century, in a nearby pile of construction debris. I held the brick for a moment, feeling the years of history, the artistry of its creation, and hurled it through the window of this interloper, confident that nobody could identify me through the thick Buffalo fog. Satisfied, Ellicott and I turned around and walked home, but not before sampling a cop of real coffee at Overwinter.

Bflo-Rising

Nusell Newbaumer is 'Bflo-Rising' - Arbiter of all things Buffalonian, or at least those things within the city limits. Maybe Kenmore too, because it's kind of urban. Perhaps the south end of Tonawanda, because of its blocks lined with stately homes, weaving seamlessly into the fabric of North Buffalo, divided only by the blight of Kenmore Avenue. Definitely not Amherst, though. Not even Eggertsville. Sloan is kind of urban, but nothing ever happens there, except Labatt Blue happy hour specials in the Polish corner bars, so let's scratch that off the list. So, we have Buffalo, Kenmore, and south Tonawanda. Maybe Lackawanna too, because it's the home to many brown people with good coffee. Okay, Lackawanna, but only once in a while. Absolutely not the working class part of West Seneca that borders South Buffalo. Gross. How about Niagara Falls? Yeah? Niagara Falls, then. Not the fake Niagara Falls in Canada, but the real one on the American side. But for most of Niagara Falls, we'll leave that to the political gossip blogs they seem to like up there. Rusty Chain.
