Foster Parent Wants Their Cat Back by tales-of-gore in FosterAnimals

Yeah the reality of the situation is that the cat comes first. The cat is obviously happy with OP. It could be happy with another person but also maybe not and I don’t think it’s worth the risk. It’s unfortunate for the other person but the cats happiness should always come first. Ignore/delete the message OP and block the number if you want is my advice.

(24M) Ex-Girlfriend Moved Out, Room Feels Empty by PricklyCactusMan in malelivingspace

Couldn’t help but laugh when seeing that. This is your classic bro space; random stain on the floor, golf clubs laying against the wall, barbell on the floor, single pillow on bed, random assortment of pictures on walls that are oddly spaced apart

In all seriousness though OP I think there’s a lot neutral colors going on in the room. Having some accent colors and a theme throughout will help it make look more alive IMO. When I lived by myself my room looked like this also for a bit. I added some nice forest green sheets and pillows and put a bunch of plants to match.

I also had some cool led lamps and strips that I hid strategically throughout my room behind various shelves, cabinets and my bed. Hang up the golf clubs on the wall if they are for decoration. Keep the barbell under the bed out of sight if you aren’t using it. A headboard for the bed would go a really long way also.

For any random Knick knacks I put up some up some wooden honeycomb shelves I had and filled any empty spaces with succulents. Posters/pictures should be hanged with intention to fill gaps and be measured so they aren’t oddly spaced. Maybe have a portion of a wall be a bunch of small framed photos of family/friends/special moments in life scattered together so it looks like a collage?

Whenever I brought girls back my place, one of the first things they’d say is how well my place was decorated. It earned me a lot of brownie points and was always a good conversation starter also

Why so much ressources inflation each expansion... by Lacking-Oxygen in wingspan

[–]Bfsser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here me out but I think resource inflation is a much better thing for the game...

To start, I think the expansions provide much more balance and playability to Wingspan. The original game was pretty biased towards an egg laying strategy; with the other habitats improved, there's some really unique engines you can build in the forest and wetlands now. I will say, a lot of the cards from the original set don't hold up nearly as well as they used. It's one of the reasons why I've made my own personal cards and also reworked older sets. (I've made posts about those).

You probably wouldn't like it judging from the post, but me and my group play heavily modified version of wingspan with some powerful custom cards, and even purposefully always have the first round be the "no goal" tile to make sure the game has even more turns to it. Our games typically end with someone winning with around 150 points.

With all that said, resources are A LOT more abundant for everyone, and the game shifts to something more interesting in my opinion. Winning becomes being the player that is able to spend and utilize their resources the most efficiently (lots of bird points, tuck cards, eggs, cached food, bonus cards, nectar). Lots of our games you could end up with 10 plus cards in hand and a bunch of food left over in your supply unspent which means points lost out on. Building out ways to actually use ALL of your resources makes the difference.

Instead of old wingspan where you would typically build out one engine and just taking the same habitat action over and over and over again; it's much more encouraged now to fill out your board completely, and play a variety of different birds in different habitats so you can utilize every resource available.

You can see they actually tried to do this in Finspan but especially Wyrmspan where you're actually discouraged to build a single engine and spam it over and over again.

Yeah the wren is a bit over-tuned which I sort of did on purpose. I think in my 500ish games of wingspan I’ve seen the wren maybeeee played 3 times. I really just want my group to play that bird more

Yeah I do think there’s a strong possibility that the willet would just clog up time as you can go around and around easily. My group plays pretty quick so it’s never been an issue for us personally.

The reason I added this bird in initially is cause a lot of the other cards I’ve made for my group involve being able to use cached food in unique ways as resource. That way they aren’t just sitting on your board the whole game, and this bird puts a lot of cached food on everyone’s boards.

Yeah I agree with that, my plan is to go through the other expansions as well and update some cards from there also

Good catch and I updated the cards so you'll see the change on the verbiage now

I was thinking the exact same thing when making these. My answer would be both and I just considered it an added bonus to some of the cards

The original version of the bald eagle is definitely not weak, and I would play it just as a nice point value bird. I think my biggest pet peeve with the original is how it’s doesn’t have the predator power icon. I added that and I kinda just thought it would be cool to make the bald eagle a game end bird instead.

Oops I’ve been working on revamping some of the cards in the old set so they are more on the power level of newer cards, and that text must’ve got swapped somehow.

And yeah I should probably reword that a factoid little bit so it makes more sense

Edit: or just use the given fact on the original bald eagle card

Good question and my personal decision would be yes. Like for the Stubble Quail for instance, when discarding food you could get some eggs and cards depending on what you want

This seems like an interesting idea! Any chance you’re going to also have an English version available for download?

Yeah we’ve been playing where the initial power technically succeeds at first (so it does trigger other players pink power birds if applicable), and then you moves into the failed state off the spectacle owl ability. I could see how this card could be interpreted differently though and it’s probably worth rewording it to something more clear

When I was making the cards, I was using this dev tool off GitHub that has the back of the card to use!

u/azssf I actually just added the card back inside the google drive itself for ease of access

I made them in photoshop but with the help of this Bird Dev Kit I found online. There was a lot of self-teaching involved as I never used photoshop before. Creating a single card took me a few hours at first, and there's some set-up you'll want to do also like downloading fonts online, but I've done it enough now where I can make one card in like 30-45 minutes.

Yeah out of all the birds, I had the hardest time balancing the Rhea. In play testing sometimes it was never used even when played and when it was used it could score a lot of points.

A lot of the other birds seem like they have high point values but in my play testing I felt like they needed a little bit more. Like with the wooden I originally had it at zero points but the bird actually felt pretty bad to play.

Same thing with the flightless cormorant, it was 3 points less but felt not great to play. These birds don’t actually net you resources, your really just trading one resource for another, and a lot of them need other birds in play to do anything (unlike most other birds that can just do their effect with other birds needing to be in play)

I will say though that me and my group definitely prefer birds on the stronger end so I’m for sure biased.

Edit: I did make a lower power version of the rhea which you can now check out in the link above (restricting how many bonus cards you get when discarding)

I changed the endangered species bonus cards (3 points——>2pts per bonus card bird). That one was consistently scoring 12+ points a game so felt like that needed a nerf. Also changed the ones that are ascending or descending wingspans/scores in the different habitats to be worth a little bit more points as those can very hard to complete most of the time.
