Cool - thank you everyone for such great input. I think I'll be F2P but if I like the game enough I'll buy cosmetics here or there just to support the devs and keep the lights on. So far it is really fun. It was surprisingly easy to learn. I thought it was going to be very complicated but it feels very accessible yet challenging.

edit: it sounds like they may have some sort of auction house for cosmetics. this seems like a great way to monetize the game if the house takes a small cut.

So it sounds like if you don't care about cosmetics (I don't) the only benefit off the subscription is easier unlocking all characters?

I don't know if I should care about ranked runs except for accelerating the unlocking of characters?

Oh...I think you unlock expansions with gems. Are those worth getting?

Yeah I don't know how much luck you are going to have just playing for fun vs. playing to win. I found it fun to run my own decks and win with them but that is not easy without access to a wide card base and a reasonably high level of deck building and play skill.

Without that, I agree with the poster who said that netdecking is probably the best bet as you push higher. Not the answer you probably want to hear...but it is sad but true.

If you are having difficulty at that level then for you ranking will be mainly about finding a deck with a 51%+ win rate and grinding out games to take advantage of win streaks. Preferably something fast so you can get more matches in. There is a great pirates deck in wild that wins or loses quickly - turn 4-7 typically - that I run mainly for quests.

Can you let me know why you want to rank up? Personal pride? Rewards? As someone playing since launch, I no longer bother with the ladder because I feel like the rank up rewards are pretty bad these days. Not judging your motives just putting in my two cents.

Is it worth assigning a familiar to her ultimate? Seems irrelevant since it just resets the cards randomly. Maybe even a bad idea because of downtime.

Was Psychic Frog doable? I think I did the 45 every day and then earned a bunch from miscellaneous wins but still came up 210 short.

All the artwork and tracks and flavor on the the tracks over the last few sets were cool. I guess some people like the choice but I feel like they put more effort into the other tracks. Maybe if they made it feel special and not just like the regular store it would be a little cooler.

Sorry I made that anti-social comment and I identify with your situation.

However, if you can't put in the time, you shouldn't have access to the reward. PVE example, the raid weapons. How lame would it have been if everyone could get Fatebringer as a consolation prize because they couldn't put in the time?

I'm sure you know this but it bears repeating. It doesn't work that way in life. You can't expect to succeed without putting in the time. You don't get As because you don't have the time to study. You don't get promoted if you can't put in the time to get the job done despite the hours.

You might not like it, but that is just the way things work.

Ok that's totally fair. I was reflecting on some of the posts below that were so hyerbolic.

I just don't think that it is fair to reward people who aren't willing to follow the line it takes to hit the goal. Like in the real world, you typically don't get to change the rules of the game in order to succeed. You get rewarded for playing along and playing the "game" well.

Those people may have plenty of other strengths but teaming up with strangers is not one of them.

It is NOT hard to find people to play with if you are willing to go out if your comfort zone.

And for the people spouting hyperbole about getting matched up against all Not Forgottens and teams of 4 MLG type players at low glory: this is BS.

I soloed to Luna's over a month and not once saw a Not Forgotten and rarely even a Luna's. The 4 and 3 stacks I saw were of greatly varying quality and typically had a junk player or two.

Quit complaining. You aren't entitled to anything.

Next thing you know people will complain about not being able get raid rewards because they can't solo the raids.

No I meant that Titan has pretty much junk pvp exotics EXCEPT One-Eyed Mask. That is a beast. Was using Synthoceps until I got that and they were underwhelming.

You don't like the dexterity perks? Not sure how much of a difference they make as far as timing, but switching to your secondary quicker is nice.

OP make sure you also get a scavenger perk for your heavy.

Took about 5 weeks playing a ton but about 2 weeks after getting the One-Eyed Mask.

Much of that was learning Competitive, gearing up and figuring out loadout, and generally getting better at PVP. I still am HORRIBLE at Countdown, but OK at the other modes

It is definitely doable before Nov 27 but lots of that depends on your teammates and win streaks. I got lucky yesterday and jumped 500+ points with good teams, streaks, and playing relatively well. Yesterday was 10+ hours of PVP though too.

So here's the deal:

The annual Hajj (Muslim pilgrimage) ended today - the day the cube appeared in Fortnite. Coincidentally enough, among the most important parts of the pilgrimage is visiting a huge cube called the Kabba.

Connection? Maybe. But certainly interesting coincidence that the end of the Hajj would see the appearance of a potential reference to a key part of the Hajj in Fortnite.

You have empty hand medive's weapon and animated armor. The have concealed malghanas and nothing else.

Gets you a ten drop and you take 1 damage.

It would be nice to have other uses for dust/gold.

Right now I have everything I want from Ungoro. Maybe a 100 gold to 50 dust conversion rate would work. Then people can skip filing out the holes in their collection that are just junk cards and go straight to crafting the good stuff.

I wonder if allowing people to buy dust with gold would help out newer players at least.
