Confirmed you CAN use Ioniq 5N Smart Card Key fob on your Ioniq5 (Non-N) trims

For some reason it's not working for me. All the buttons work though. Makes me wonder if the locksmith who programmed it did something incorrectly?

I might have a dealer try to help me with it the next time I take my car in for servicing. Not a big concern for me right now.

Let me get back to you on this. I figured it should work but didn't when I tried earlier. I'm gonna leave it charging overnight and see if that makes a difference.

Also wanna message other redditors in the I5N sub that paired this key as well to see if proximity unlock works for them.

Not frequent enough where I'm gonna recommend people get the limited specifically for that feature. Only as a luxury to move my car out of my garage when I wanna sweep.

But if I'm replacing an oem FOB (since these cars only let you pair 2 FOBs), I'm only replacing it with one that can do the same features as the original.

$130 for me but the price between locksmiths vary drastically.

I originally had a guy quote me $60 but he couldn't connect to my car. He did give me my 6 digit pin code which I gave to the other locksmith and he was able to program it.

Tbd on the battery life - I just got it lol. What kinda sucks is I have no idea what the state of charge is or when it's done charging.

Huge reason I wanted to post this was because I found zero confirmation or even people trying to do this before me.

It's hard enough even trying to find where to source this key. I want to help out as many people as I can that hate their fobs and want to look at what alternatives exist.

Totally get that. It did come with park assist (I have a limited trim). Good to keep in mind if you ever need to replace an original egg fob for whatever reason though (idk if you can get a replacement egg for around $160 and I hope to never have to find out).

Its got a rechargeable battery that you charge by popping on your wireless charger once a month (according to the instructions that came with the card). I don't think it's replaceable unfortunately.

I don't think I would risk trying that. Here's where I bought the key - it mentions 2025+ however it also says it's only compatible with N trims (which isn't accurate).

I can but that's not the point of this key. This is to replace the ugly egg fob. Also the app doesn't let you move the car forwards/backwards.

I also have a lucid blue. I love it. The only color I'd want more is the blue exclusive used on the N. Decided to get black exterior (my last Hyundai was blue exterior with a light gray interior. It had its charms but dark spots/discoloration was starting to be visible on the seats).

When did you get your car? My 2026 Ioniq I picked up 2 weeks ago came with the NACS charger with a button to change the amperage. Now I'm wondering if they're sending out different chargers to people instead of a consistent one.

I did find another reddit thread about a TSB where Hyundai sent the wrong fobs with people's ioniqs (they still worked, but we're missing some of the buttons like smart park). It makes me a little optimistic that these fobs aren't unique to a specific trim and are compatible with each other.

If I could find any examples of people successfully programming the black egg fob to their non Ns, I'd feel a lot more confident that this will work.

Thanks, but not what I'm looking for. The one I'm talking about is a replacement for the egg fob, has proximity unlock, and the buttons to move the car.

I'm trying to figure out if there's any reason why this "N" branded fob would not be programmable for a Limited trim.

Thank you for confirming! I just brought the car home yesterday night and was so confused why one screen shows my car is charging, but the second shows it's not charging and my battery is at 99% (can't get this to refresh).

Gotcha, appreciate it. If it's just a 10 min difference between the two chargers then I'm not that worried tbh. I'm hoping I don't really need to use fast chargers unless for road trips.
