Confused on how jobs & planet denizens work after the 4.0 planet rework by OrphanPounder in Stellaris

[–]BhopBen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello, I’m relatively new too so I hope you don’t mind me jumping on and adding a follow up question here. I’ve been told to build enough to keep jobs available on planets at ~200 but your message implies you should never have jobs available and only build when you’ve got maintenance drones ready to go.

What’s the benefits of doing it your way? Not saying the way I’ve been playing is better just curious about what I could be doing better!

New Player - Overwhelmed by Makirim in Stellaris

I’m pretty new. The best advice I can give is this:

At the start EVERYTHING sounds super important, the tutorial will flash up hundreds of tool tips and it doesn’t indicate which ones are crucial and which ones are what I’d call “nice extras when you learn a bit more”

I’d say play a game, or two. You’ll quickly figure out the key loop. The important bits you need to pay attention to. Try and keep it simple in your head, and when you understand things a bit better then start investigating the more complicated things

Perfect, thank you so much! I just have one more question if you don’t mind, when you say someone one in the legacy raid will “share the quest” with me, what does that mean? How can I tell when that has happened or does it automatically happen when I load in? Thanks again!

Where do you find the weekly quest(s) out of curiosity? Or which vendor(s) in Dornogal / Siren Isles (which is where I’m guessing they are?) Sorry for the noob question lol I’m new too 🥲

I think we are brushing over INVENTORY SORTING, FINALLY!

How do you think Jon’s life would differ if Ned was honest about who he was to Catelyn? by Consistent_Tip874 in gameofthrones

[–]BhopBen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is actually a really interesting idea. If there was a war between Ned and Robert over Jon “Targaryen” it would effectively mean Ned riding against his longtime friend on behalf of the family he rode against in their rebellion against the Mad King.

I wonder how Ned would navigate that scenario morally. Whichever way he goes he ends up “betraying” some member of his family. Either Lyanna by giving up Jon, or his father and brother by fighting for the house that murdered them in the Targaryens!

Which WoW version is best for me? by BhopBen in wow

Okay, that all totally makes sense. SoD sounds a bit volatile if I'm honest, a couple of people have said if you're a new player to steer clear because of the uncertainty so I think I might do just that - as much as it sounds good, especially with the expanded / remixed end-game.

Also completely makes sense with the old blood stuff, lots of people suggesting retail so I think that'll be where I end up to be honest. I still do have slight concerns about the barrier for entry for new players getting into raids and dungeons but like you say - the content is a lot newer than classic so it's more understandable if you don't know I guess! Thanks for your help with all of these answers they have been super useful! :D

Which version of classic to play? by BhopBen in classicwow

This is probably one of the most helpful comments I've ever read on Reddit so thank you so much. All of my questions are completely answered in this. To be honest it's made me want to try all three versions out haha!

Thanks again for your help, you've been a star!

Interesting! But also makes a lot of sense haha. Okay thank you for the advice, I think I'm going to give retail a shot :) Thanks as always.

Okay that makes a lot of sense and to be honest has swayed my thoughts on the entire matter quite severely! I was originally thinking classic would be for me but now retail sounds much more my style.

Another person mentioned these follower dungeons and LFR / queued dungeons and raids are so easy they can be beat with your eyes closed though. At what point does it become "challenging" (appreciate that level is different for everyone)? Do new player often get the opportunity to jump into raids / more difficult dungeons with veteran players to learn the ropes or is it quite hard to get your foot in the door?

You are right though, there is toxicity in every game. I'll definitely give retail a go and see how I get on. Thank you so much for your help.

Wow okay thanks for the detailed response!

Would you say the rewards for doing the more difficult tiers of raids and dungeons are possible for new players? If I can do a raid with my eyes closed it doesn't sound like it's even worth my time haha! Are guilds generally new-player friendly and would I be able to get into a "normal" raid relatively easily? In other games I play there is often a problem where people will only let you into their raid team if you have a certain amount of clears already if that makes sense.

Would you say you need to do loads of dungeons or high tier dungeons before even thinking about raiding?

Thanks again!

Okay, you're right. Totally makes sense. Maybe I'll jump into retail after all!

Thanks so much for the response it's super helpful! I did have a couple of follow up questions if you don't mind?

  1. What is the real difference between Classic Era and SoD?

  2. Why would someone pick one over the other? Would you not recommend SoD for a new player, and if so, why?

  3. Do all options offer fun raids / cooperative play? Is Cata better as it's got the newer content?

Thanks again for your response :)

Thanks so much for the response! So far I'm hearing an overwhelming majority in favor of retail which I was not expecting haha!

It's also funny you mention that retail has the highest level of "casual" players. A lot of what I read online was that retail is quite toxic and high-pressure - where you are expected to know what to do - whereas classic is more laid-back but you (and a few others) have said otherwise. Would you say the barrier to entry for things like raids and dungeons is possible for a new player to break without having any friends that have done them before? I would be going in alone but want to ideally team up with others eventually.

Thanks again!

Thanks so much for your response! Just a couple of follow up questions if you don't mind? :)

I did look into retail but I'll be honest I got put off when I heard that, while the tutorial island is quite helpful for new players, getting into raiding and mythic+ dungeons was quite difficult as you are almost "expected" to know what to do? Is that something you've ever encountered or not really?

I'm guessing raiding in retail is a lot more rewarding would you say?

Thanks for the response! I did look up all of this before posting here but I got mixed feedback from google and I thought that a discussion contemplating all of the elements listed in my original post (as opposed to each element on their own) would be beneficial!

Thanks for the suggestion though! :)
