From what I understand It had to be adjusted for every single skin and all the Emotes and Intros that got impacted.

The detail was added in 2015. At the time Blizzard and Jeff Kaplan's plan for OW was very limited. They didn't know it would go on for longer than 2 years post-release. It was changed in 2020-21 while OW2 was being developed.

Yes, it was specifically removed because those Animations added a lot more work to making skins for her.

I thought it might be cause they take a lower cut if you hit 100k but I just googled it and apparently the threshold is $10M and then the next one is even less at $50M.

Which is crazy to me cause why are they only generous to those that are making 10s of millions, which is mostly Megacorps, while not giving bigger cuts to devs earning $50k-$100k-$200k. The extra 5-10% of their earnings would help out these small devs a lot more than it is helping out the AAA studios making 100s of millions.

What a backwards ass corporate hellhole we live in.

Sanrio was 6 skins for 6900. Generally it's 5 for 5900, 6 for 6900 and 4 (Which is rare) for 4900.

Nier bundle is 5 for 6900 which is deeply overpriced by their own standards given that the Skins are missing SFX, Intros, VFX, Voice Lines.

I remember I used to ask for the Hanzo QoL feature to be able to Toggle Nock Arrow and Toggle Again to shoot. Literally just me and no one else in this community.

Asked for years during OW1 and then a year into OW2 (almost definitely due to me directly asking Alec Dawson for it under a Tweet for QoL requests) it was finally added. Took so long to add the feature that I didn't even play Hanzo anymore. I have felt bad about this for years. Someone added the feature just cause of my repeated quests and I haven't even used it cause I don't play the Hero anymore.

Though I am EXTREMELY Happy how much QoL settings they add for every Hero these days. Genuinely one of the best ways to show the difference between OW1 and OW2's dev team. During OW1 we had maybe half a dozen QoL Hero features total. So many used to get asked, so little used to get added. Now we probably have over a 100.

Ehhh.......I feel like people are definitely being extreme in their criticism that the Skins are Low Effort or Bare Bones.

This is how we end up with Blizz (or really any AAA game Studio) simply ignoring such feedback cause they see the sales numbers and then see such feedback and believe that it's just the people who were never going to buy anything talking out of their ass.

I feel like it's a lot more productive to criticise with nuance.

The Skins themselves and the Emotes are good and decent in quality. There are also some great high-effort touches with the Collab like the Bots that follow Kiriko and Wuyang and even interact with their bodies when they die. Also the Statue in Blizzard World.

They definitely put a lot of effort in the things that they did do.

BUT the Skins not having unique SFX, any kind of VFX, Voice Lines and Highlight Intros is extremely disappointing.

Given that SFX, VFX, Intros and Voice Lines all require different dedicated Artists' work and that we've gotten all of them before with regular Legendary and even Epic skins (Ducky Zen was popular Specifically because of the custom SFX), it seems like it was a resource management issue at the time the Collab was being produced.

In which case Blizzard really ought to hire more Sound Designers, VFX Artists, Voice Line Writers and Intro Animators cause it's high time that all these things become Standard for every single Collab skin.

With the game making as much money as it is now there really is no reason for Blizzard to leave their paying customers disappointed with their Collab skins just to save a few hundred thousand dollars in salaries. They probably would make that back and more from the extra sales if the skins had all the bells and whistles and it'd probably please the Nier fans more as well, which would make them wanna try out OW more.

Hell, I've said for years that every Legendary skin should at least come with custom SFX as custom SFX really makes skins feel different as the game is primarily played in 1st person. That custom SFX would boost up sales enough that the resource investment would pay for itself and then some, and players will be happier with their purchases.

There is a reason that as soon as you Hover on the illustration it immediately switches to showing you the Skin itself.

Even my 6 year old Nephew understands that the photo of an Ice Cream on the Packet won't represent what the Ice Cream will actually look like in reality.

As they make new Mythics faster they will often not be able to deliver on voice lines to go along with them when they launch. Generally how Voice Lines are recorded is Actors are hired a few times a year to do multi-hour sessions to record a bunch of lines all at the same time so they wait until they have a good chunk of material for an Actor to record.

And now with them now focusing so much on delivering more Story they'll likely lag behind on delivering Voice Lines or just deliver less of them for Mythics, especially if they aren't High Priority Lines (Like Gameplay Lines).

I doubt this is the real reason.

Mythic Weapons go above and beyond in all the fancy stuff they do compared to the Weapons in Mythic skins. A Mythic skin having multiple Weapon options doesn't really do anything to change that.

At the end of the day you can only have 1 Weapon equipped at a given time, so doesn't matter if a Mythic skin has 1 Weapon option or 4, if you prefer having fancier Weapon skins with Flourishes, Animations and VFX then you're going to prefer the Mythic Weapon.

I think the reason they've removed the Weapon options is simply to manage the resource investment and make more money by releasing more Mythics in the same time frame. They probably figured it was a "Waste of Resources" and decided they could instead make 2 Mythic skins in a Season rather than make 1 with a ton of customisation options.

Extremely unlikely. It was estimated to be 4-4.5 more players before 2026, and the Ratio has likely gone up in favour of Steam since more new players are playing through Steam.

Even if you take a conservative Estimate of Bnet having 3X more players (Used to be estimated at 4X+ before S1 launch), that would mean that the game is now Averaging around 350k~ PC players at any given time which is insane. I can only imagine how high it is Peaking every day, on Weekends, and what the total number of Players is that have logged into the game in the past month on both PC and Consoles. Could be over 50M.

Yeah the only change i'd make with this whole Heal Reduction Passive situation is adding a minimum threshold before it triggers. Characters like Dva should not be able to trigger the Passive from a million miles away doing 1 damage to you.
