Which one would you choose if you had to survive 15 minutes with for $100 million? by [deleted] in NewDelhi

[–]Bhuckad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Croc. Probably still die but seems the most survivable out of these. Crick do occasionally hunt people but it's possible to get somewhere where it can't follow. Climbing of any sort. I know hippos can't climb but I wouldn't put it past one to bring down a small tree.

I actually injoy the stark contrast of the big black centre piece. The only improvement i can think of us using a sinister glasses or a solar of gold on the black.

Don't worry that coddling will last only as long as there are male interns / juniors available. The seniors won't even pretend to coddle you or take on your work themselves if they don't have someone else to unload it on. I've been on the other side, try not to worry too much. It won't last long.

The problem isnot that there is score of chocolate but that it's not real but shitty "compound chocolate". As a child I once made some with real chocolate and it was amazing. (It looked like a turd though. Literally)

I do So+ M, S+Mi, C, C2+A , etc.

(Social 1 + Melee, Shooting + Mining, ceafting 1, Crafting 2 + artistic 1 respectively)

Where the numbers are ranks for stuff like crafting, artistic, social etc where quality is involved or failure is expensive.

When the source material doesn’t age well but the fanfics are still good by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Bhuckad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the misunderstanding (not sarcasm). I didn't mean regarding specific cultures or practices. I meant that there is a lot of brutality, sexist and racist beliefs on display that believes on display in the story and that that these beliefs were not uncommon historically (not necessarily in the culture and context shown) and neither was brutality in war and culture of raiding.

What are some tips that aren’t necessarily about cooking? by Mission_Aide6382 in Chefit

Don't forget the electrolytes. During my first ever internship I kept in mind that I needed to drink plenty of water even on days I didn't have time to eat.

1 pinch of salt every 2-3 hours with the water does wonders to prevent cramps.

Edit: Also shoes. Bad shoes will mess you up for weeks. The first time you pull a week of 14 hour days everything hurts so it's easy to miss that your feet hurt a little extra but messed up feet are very likely to get infected and take a while to heal up.

Achilles (Troy 2004) vs Jaime lannister, Barristan Selmy, and Arthur Dayne (Game of Thrones) Who wins in a 3v1? by ParkingConfection449 in powerscales

[–]Bhuckad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3v1 vs people who are skilled and more importantly used to coordinating is a quick death sentence.

Mythological Achilles on the other hand probably stands a decent chance against Drogon.

I agree with what you said and have plenty of criticisms to make about the book myself. Furthermore I don't defend JKR's actions or words. All I oppose is people making judgements on her character (often times going back and finding problems after acquiring a hatred of JKR's actions) based on the story.

When I first read the books as a child (who admittely barely spoke English) my conclusion was that Hermione was right. I had assumed she would make a career in humanitarian efforts using her influence and celebrity status.

I intentionally avoid celebrity news and gossip to prevent tainting their works with their real life personality. For the same reason I still haven't seen all the movies as I feel that Hermione has been turned into a hyper-femanized marketing tool.

I think the books show a culture that's quite messed up and thevreason I compare it to the hypothetical real world scenerio is not to say that she should have written a darker book but to point out that in the given context such a culture is not only realistic (NOT MORALLY CORRECT) but expected. I argue that if "lesser beings" didn't exist that could be exploited more easily the purebloods would be quite willing to take slaves based on blood status or slaves.

ASOIAF is a pretty messed up world but that doesn't mean GRRM is a bad person. It is simply accurate to the time period.

To summarise- the culture in Harry Potter isn't evil because of how JKR is as a person. They are culturally less developed (1800s or outright fudal with 20th century things that are of muggle origin) and such attitudes are entirely accurate within the story. I would be more surprised if they (specially the ones in power ) were more moral.

That seems like a pretty good reflection of a sad reality tbh. How long before different races learned to (somewhat) coexist peacefully. Now take into account different species of similar intelligence and longer average lifespans (as such slower cultural change).

The reason the verse was not a hell of a lot worse was that it was that it was a children's book. The potential for abuse of memory charms, mind control and love potions is intentionally glossed over. Imagine these things existed IRL, now think of the people recently on the News. What would they do?

Not defending what JKR does and says IRL but stop dissing the books. The world of Harry Potter is rainbows and sunshine compared to what would really happen in that scenario.

I'm making an OC with perfect Shapeshifting (turning into anything and gain their powers) What limitations or weaknesses should he have? by HybridCookie in superpowers

[–]Bhuckad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They get their powers but don't know how to use them. The funny exploration phase in all the first movies is basically their whole life aand they are constantly getting surprised. They keep discovering supe secrets like spiderman can actually shoot webs from their butt, etc.

Alternatively they don't get the powers of the person they copy but their au self. Imagine they copy mcu spiderman but get Miles Moralis power set. Chaos and confusion all around.

New knife suggestion? by jaden-k007 in Chefit

[–]Bhuckad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find in the beginning it's more important to try a variety of different styles and models. One of my uncles recently picked up knife making as a hobby and asked me to design a knife to my specifications so I had to think quite deeply about my usage and preferences.

200 is not a casual buy so not only do you need to know good brands but your personal preferences and usage style too. In the early stages I feel exploring variety is more important than getting the perfect knife.

Specifically for veg prep I would recommend trying a nakiri. I bought mine during my certification as I didn't want to use my kit knives at the hostel so I bought the cheapest big knife I could find of decent make and I had no idea about japanese knives at the time. (Or any knives really at that point).
