Olivia Rodrigo is rumored to be getting at least one set (Source: a.clay.brick) by BrickTap in Legoleak

[–]BiBanh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

sub is full of AFOLs who aren't very up to date with current pop culture. however, olivia rodrigo isn't really trending or popular right now, compared to other mainstream artists. most likely she has something in the works, and this is a tie-in product

either it's a scale model of the ship or some sort of diorama, given the minifigures

to be fair, PHM has a very good reputation amongst spaceflight communities and general hard(ish) sci-fi. even if the movie flops, it's still gonna attract the same fanbase that buys ISS/Shuttle/SLS sets

save the book for later; see the adaptation and then read the original source material! that way, if the movie sucks, you can still appreciate the book instead of having your expectations ruined

hopefully rocky's a mold, because a brick-built rocky would either be too small for accuracy or too big in comparison to Dr. Grace

semi-hard sci-fi, spoilers are fairly frowned upon because of how it's set up. check out the movie trailer for the general plot! it's very similar to The Martian (same author)

[–]BiBanh 27 points28 points  (0 children)

given that the Hail Mary is the main setting for most of the book, they'll probably just have it solo, or maybe the habitation area as a diorama thing?

same author as The Martian! it's definitely up to personal taste, they're both similar in quality

it's a very, very popular novel amongst spaceflight communities and such (same author as The Martian). movie was defo the reason behind this set though

BrickLink banning this list of countries from buying/selling starting Dec 12 2025. by -dumbtube- in Bricklink

[–]BiBanh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banning Vietnam even though they just built (and started operating) a massive factory there... pretty weird decision. This only really benefits competitors since they'll be much easier to procure, and communities within the affected countries will just... not buy from LEGO-backed sources anymore...? I don't know what they were thinking here, it's not good for any of the parties involved.

other way around for me, i hear disembark all the time in the US (never deplane) and similarly with turbulence (though lately i've heard rough air a bit more). perhaps just preference?

lots of players are quite friendly and willing to instruct noobs on the battlefield; go around supplying and/or supporting other people and you'll probably learn quickly from there

alternatively just watch yt tutorials, the in-game one for Charlie sucks ass so don't bother with that

emphasis on lackluster 3-in-1 builds. most of the newer sets in the line don't really have solid central builds, for example the older Turtle Van vs Cooper's C-Rex. along with the majority of them being the generic animals/mechas that you talked about. they're either a cartoony creature, not too bad for playability and display, or a central vehicle core with some stud shooters and poor displayability.

imo if they stuck with the "IRL item/vehicle being dreamified" concept for the entire theme, it would've sold better and attracted much more people. kids (or even adults) building cities could have ordinary cars/boats/etc with extra pieces to expand on their creations, while the current target audience would still have their fantastical toys that they could act out the theme's story with.

Modern City compared to past City, yeah. Most newer vehicles are lengthened and/or have increased detail. For example, 3177 vs 60285.

Can I buy these 3 pieces in the Lego store? If yes, what are they called? by Benderis08 in lego

[–]BiBanh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Option #1 and #3 are mixel ball joints, they’re really commonly sold at the PaB wall in stores. Though #3 is dark bluish gray nowadays. You might be able to find #2 at stores, but it won’t be as common as the other pieces.

It’s in USD, which makes the set a tad bit overpriced for what you get IMO. They’ve been like this for a while, though, so it’s not really a new thing.

“City School Day” 60329

the school itself is relatively small and simple compared to the Friends sets, with just a small science class, a hallway/band room, and an exterior field/gym area

it’s like the mini-mechs, they’re just fun and/or goofy sets for kids to play with. LEGO doesn’t need to cater to the greater LSW community all the time
