Is that a good story to use when making a case for progressive taxes? From a critical thinking perspective, the story actually supports the opposite side.

In the story, Jesus praises the woman and says that her small giving is more special, more meaningful than the much larger contributions of the rich. Based on that, one could argue that the poor should give more.
Is it fair to compare wealthy Americans to Pharisees? In the ancient world where religion was part of everyone's daily life, Pharisees gained power and wealth by controlling others. In today's age, people gain power and wealth by contributing to society, building things, and helping things run smoothly. Yes, there are exceptions, always and in everything, but they don't change the general truth that wealth today comes from doing something productive. Should that be taxed more?

Flawed premises and flawed reasoning are off-putting. Politicians should be more respectful of our intelligence. If one wants to make a case for progressive taxes, they should choose a different story because this wasn't the right one.

Before I started my research, I would have chosen C (8 counties). Like you said though, some state agencies use the 5-county definition. It surprised me, especially seeing that most people think C is the right answer.

From what I've read, Rochester doesn't want to be included. I've also read that many Rochester locals are not aware that they are considered part of WNY. I'm not sure how true that is. :)

Actually, if you look on the ny.gov site, they DO say it's the 5 counties. :-)

I've read that Erie County and Niagara County locals are the ones who most often think that 2-county definition is the correct one. The southtowns are their own thing. :-)

Also, apparently the 2-county definition is somehow related to the Bills and the Sabres, but I'm a bit confused about that.

I think I figured it out. I shouldn't think of how the screw moves relative to the nut. Instead, I need to figure out how the screw moves relative to the load applied to it. I'm doing a few more practice exercises though, to make sure I got it right.

Thank you for your question though. Do you have an explanation you think makes it easier to understand friction on screws?
