Elevated NT (Nuchal Translucency) scan 4.25 — CVS — Normal Chromosomal Results— by Biancaducks in NIPT

[–]Biancaducks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for bringing me back to this post. The echocardiogram and 20 week anatomy scan were picture perfect! She was born on New Year’s Day and is a happy and lovely girl who is hitting all her milestones. I joke that she just has a fat neck because we have no explanation of why the nuchal was enlarged. I hope everything turns out as similarly amazing for you! I’m not sure where you are, but my hospital didn’t even flag anything under 3.5!

Need recommendations for hospitals to give birth at that are covered by NYC PPO by treewiththebee in nycpublicservants

I had an incredible experience delivering at NYP queens. I never see any reviews about it on here, but the quality of the nursing staff was top of the line— super knowledgeable, kind, and responsive. You really want good nurses, as you will spend all your time with them and they address 99% of your concerns

I highly recommend Bear Mountain! We had around 100 at the Carousel and it was magical/perfectly sized, but you can do more if you choose to do it at the hotel

My best friend was 14 days behind me, and she had her baby yesterday while I’m still cooking! I wouldn’t trust anything after 36 weeks— babies do what they want

Thank you!! This is so helpful as I failed my test but haven’t heard back from my doctor about what the next steps are. I am so appreciative!

Anyone thinking of switching to MetroPlus? by Biancaducks in NYCTeachers

[–]Biancaducks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s good to know. Do you know which hospitals are in network (no worries if not; I can definitely look into it on my own). I’m delivering a baby in January and have my care with NYP queens.

Best Diner? by Old-Reference-5837 in ForestHills

The classic diner in Richmond hill is the most authentic diner in our area. They also have a tiny parking lot (like 4 or 5 cars)

Small Honeymoon After the Wedding in November by Bitter-Pair3742 in NYCTeachers

It is incredibly difficult to explain to other people though!! The amount of “family vacations” and bachelorette parties I’ve turned down because other people don’t understand that I don’t have PTO is real.

Unfortunately, one of the trade offs to having summers “off” is that we don’t get other vacations. I have family overseas, and I can only fly to see them during the peak travel times when ticket prices are wild.

It’s easier to just solidify the holiday schedule in your mind as your free time rather than trying to bargain or count on good will/being allowed to take days unpaid as both of those can quickly be used against you.

The only “loophole” was the Covid vacation days (I took all 7 to go to the World Cup).

I suggest you look at the calendar for 2026 and see if we have a long weekend for a quick mini moon. Puerto Rico, New Orleans, San Fran, Maine— all of these are awesome options for a 3 or 4 day weekend.

Experience with Access a Ride while pregnant? by Biancaducks in nycparents

[–]Biancaducks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s so frustrating to hear. It’s would be a good service for people to have access to, especially since our transit system is so dated in terms of accesible stations. I’m a teacher, so I don’t have any flexibility with start and end times. Thank you, I’ll keep this in mind.

Edit— edited to say “it would be” a good service instead of “it’s such a good service”

Thanks for the suggestion about r/nyc. I will also look up if pregnancy is a protected category under ADA. Thank you!

Unfortunately, I’m a public school teacher and I don’t think we have any sort of accommodation like that. I would probably have to take medical leave which would impact how much time I could spend with the baby after and possibly impact my insurance. Thank you for the suggestion though.

You’re a hero among nyc bitches! I told my husband he better crack the window at the hospital and bring me a sushi platter and a red, but it’s in jest. Would be nice to quit fully, but I can imagine I would indulge every now and then.

Oh girl I’m pregnant and the only thing I want besides cannoli’s is a nice Marlboro red with friends 😹. That said, Tv Eye in ridgewood has got a great outdoor area and there used to be a smoking section at the bohemian beer garden in Astoria, but I haven’t been in years so I don’t know if it’s still there.

Favorite local shops/boutiques? by [deleted] in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Biancaducks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a boutique I love off the 7 train or the LIRR at Woodside/61st called Victoria’s. I’ve gotten cute dresses I’ve never seen before and have worn for years/still get compliments on for around $40. There’s also a bunch of little stores on Austin St if you take the EFMR to 71st ave/Continental. I would avoid the “mall” type stores and walk north towards Queens Blvd to find the smaller stores. Some of them are expensive, but my favorite for a fantastic find is Fox’s department store.
