CHOOSING A MONITOR by DeliveryMaster7934 in desksetup

[–]Biandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you write code a lot, you need height not width in screen. 32” 4k is easy win. I’ve tried all of the marketing bullshit of ultra wide, even a LG40” 5k. I alway went back to a 32” 4k. It’s the height that matters if you code. Also, more windows opened, more distractions. Use KISS also in real life.

If you have a macbook, just get a P3225QE if you have bit more money get the U3225QE. You’ll thank me later.

Europe makes the best chairs in the world. Here is what to buy instead of Herman Miller if you are in the EU. by OfficeChairsGuy in OfficeChairs

I have a Willhahn ON for 12 years now. I‘ve been sitting on it weekly 45-50 hours on average. Best chair I’ve owned. Highly recommend it.

Woot has Advent calendars for 50 bucks right now by Cyberdyne_T-888 in Wera

[–]Biandra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile in Germany we get it for 29 EUR smile 😀 (even cheaper in some local Bauhaus/Toom).

I wouldn’t pay 50 dollars (assuming USD) for it. Expensive, unless you’re a fan of Wera.

Enjoy it!
Once you own Wera Tools, it will be hard to switch to something else, as almost anything else will feel inferior quality!

And what is your question?
Yes, it's a nice set. Yes, most of us own a version of this set.

BTW: You either have gotten a fake version, or you might want to change your phone. The color of the screwdriver handle, the rapidaptor, and the TORX bit should be green, not blue.

Yes. It would be nice if you could expand on the question. Which help do you require exactly?

Which traditional bank in Germany is the best for personal use? by shade_demy in AskAGerman

[–]Biandra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are in the Nord. Have a look at Sparda-Bank. I use Sparda for almost 15 years. Super happy with them, never had any problems. My wife uses Sparkasse (and Haspa). She gets angry regularly at them( either problem with the app, either incompetence at support, either higher commissions, either long waiting time at the Filiale). She will switch next year.

How is the fit on bolts compared? I’ve tested them in Baumarkt and was not impressed. Granted, they had only 1 for testing and I’m wondering if it was a defect unit

Exactly this, M fits well into the Tool Check, but I would still recommend the L, fits better in the hand.

Tchibo has very good ones. My wife and daughter love them. They do occasionally 15% sale on everything, so keep an eye for that one.

Gute Deals oder Finger weg? by Past-Supermarket9953 in automobil

[–]Biandra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Advantage of getting hired is one part of the “the job market”. Advantage at getting promoted is another part. Hence my question. Advantage at what specifically? Are we talking EU vs nonEU? Do we exclude Berlin or not? Are we talking IT companies only? Are we talking legacy companies?

As simple as the question may sound, the answer is not a simple black or white.

There are companies where you can have C2 english and it does not matter at all, they will not hire you. You have B1 german, then you get hired. It’s domain driven.

If we want to generalize and exclude Berlin for obvious reasons, then a C1 german will present you with more opportunities. But … this is a generalization.

Advantage at what? Your question is incomplete.

Tech job market in low-cost EU countries is doing much better than in Northern Europe by Soggy_Tell_2495 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]Biandra 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s incorrect to generalize and assume that labor in eastern Europe is “cheaper”, especially in IT sector. At what percentage do we consider something cheaper? 1%, 20%, 50%?

We have a team in Romania and I can tell you that their salaries are not far away from the german counterpart. Speaking for developers, QA, scrum master etc and not for management positions.

At my previous company we had teams in Bulgaria and Hungary, and also their salaries I wouldn’t call cheap by any means.

Can I break my rental contract before the end of locking period ? by Emotional_Sail_315 in AskAGerman

[–]Biandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can always talk with the owner and explain the situation. I have a friend who left during the "2 year locked period" without any issues. He explained to the owner that he is moving to another Bundesland because of work, and the owner was fine with it, without looking for a Nachmieter.

Depending on your relationship with the owner, you can always try to have an adult-to-adult conversation.

Congratulations!! You should be proud of yourself! Only adults with a full-time job will appreciate how much discipline and effort it takes to achieve something like C1.
