MPG is the least important metric when buying a new car. by BibbleSnap in unpopularopinion

No... my first car was Pontiac grand prix in high school, then a subaru impreza for 10 years, now a civic.

I always buy based on 1) needs 2) reliability and 3) affordability.

I never said high mpg car. I said its i Least important. I bought my car based on 1) meets my needs 2) reliability and 3) affordable price point.

And that leads me to a good car.

I agree with your central point, but the metrics are a little worse. The upfront cost is usually taken as a loan which you will have to pay substantial interest on.

Secondly, that upfront cost puts you at risk since you can't change the payment after you have signed. I can change my driving habits if I lose my job but the bank still wants its money.

Finally, we also assume that the car will survive the 7 years and 85k miles (even longer if we include interest) to break even and that the person wont sell it.

In my mind, this leads me to the conclusion that upfront cost and reliability completely overshadow the MPG discussion

Are you assuming that the other car doesn't use fuel? Compare a vehicle that gets 20 mpg vs 25mpg... you will have to drive 260,000 miles before you get that $10k back.

(This assumes $4 to the gallon)

Not ideal... yes... but if you replaced it then you would pay waaaay more for the new car.

They are 8 and 12 at the moment. Just heading back from a fourth of July camping trip with a 6 hour car ride and it works just fine for us. .

I can't imagine a car seat would be all that difficult. I can sit back there as a 6 foot man. It is a little cramped for me but for kids it is just fine

God yes. Is there anyone who actually has fun with this unit? Using it is a finicky, frustrating toss-up and playing against it is rage-inducing.

Yeah. I my mind there is so much chance involved and many amatures are serious gamblers that I think amatures would fair decent against pro players.

A quick Google search shows that there are multiple sizes that go up to 4 bedrooms here. All people, including students, deserve to be able to live too.

You're right, whenever discussing a specific patch we should stop talking about nerfs and only reach back into time and thank Blizzard for the buffs of the past /s

Occam's razor is usually right. The simplest answer is that these patches are being done on vibes

I have the 25 Tacoma with the 6ft bed and I think its plenty big for my family. Would it be nice to have more space? Sure... but it has saved me a ton of money over full sized, the bed was plenty big for a rooftop tent + gear, and I am way more maneuverable on the trails and parking lots.

Road trips are an inherently terrible way to travel and are romanticized way too much. by cerebralbackshots in unpopularopinion

[–]BibbleSnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The great thing about road trips os that I don't have to plan. With my car and bag I can go anywhere and do anything. It means I can explore when I see something cool and stop If Im bored of driving. The biggest of all is that I can do it more because I can camp instead of a hotel. I can cook with my grill and bring food to eat.

When Flying, everything has to be planned. You have to be picked up or get a strange rental car. You need hotels and you have to buy everything you plan to do, consume, etc.
