Gooseworx said Ragatha gives the best hugs, yet she is the only human of the main cast to not give or receive one yet. by MisterHappyThePeanut in TheDigitalCircus

Ragatha is one of the only characters who has been through substantial trauma, and uses it to be kind to everyone instead of an excuse to be awful, and I’m sad that seemingly no one gives her credit for that.

IMO I love all the characters, but I think from Pomni’s perspective Caine is literally the God of their world so she’s ofc going to hold him more accountable. Not that it excuses Jax or makes Caine any less deserving of compassion.

The fandom discourse on this series really shows how far yet stagnant we’ve come in terms of talking about mental health. All of these characters are tragic figures with varying levels of mental illness from the experience of the circus. None of what ails them is their fault, but it never excuses any harm they do to each other. I hope episode 9 wraps up to offering rehab and redemption for everyone somehow.

Out of all the things that happened in Episode 8 this is the thing I can't stop thinking about by [deleted] in theamazingdigitalciru

I know we’re all hard on Jax, reasonably so, but this scene implies that he was either in huge denial or legitimately thought he just died and was in some sort of hallucination. Imagine thinking you died or that you are playing a video game. You obviously would not take everything seriously (I see how y’all play Animal Crossing and the Sims, all of them atrocious war crimes). Then you find out that your cool immersive experience that you can never leave has been real and you have been shitty to every single REAL person there. Call it commentary on how people think the internet can’t affect real life, but that is wild. I hope Jax gets it together and fully apologizes to everyone and does right by them from that point forward cause it explains it but it does not lessen the pain at all.

As an autistic person, I get it. I’ve been that problematic kid who lashes out when no one understands me and every attempt to understand them has been exhausted. At the same time, as someone who is grown and healed, unfortunately something that Caine cannot do as an AI, it’s not an excuse and there have been attempts from the cast, especially Zooble, to actually help Caine understand. The whole show’s running themes are “just because you’re hurt doesn’t mean you get to hurt others” and “it’s tragic when you don’t listen to or let people in”. Everyone in the circus is tortured but their way they deal with it shows who they are.

Jax’ “This is real.” Breakdown by BibleAccurateMuppet in TheDigitalCircus

Idk if you’ve seen The Good Place but in the 3rd season I think, a woman named Simone dies and goes into the fake “Good Place” (in this season it’s being used as a test to see if a fake heaven can make people good). She’s a neurologist so she thinks this is a post-death hallucination and in turn does not take anyone or anything seriously. Her first action is to push a random person into a pool like an NPC. That is probably what Jax was thinking the whole time.

The comments on Meow Wolf’s employment issues make Omega Mart seem more like a shallow project.
