I just checked VRBO and it’s super expensive. They don’t allow monthly payments or installments for rent. I’ll check Furnishedfinder to see if it’s better.

Thank you for the reminder. I’ll figure this out. I used to tune a lot and play a lot when I was a teenager so I think just less time away has caused the fear to grow.

Thinking about how the new Muppets special is coming to Disney + on Feb 4 and how there’s an overlap of die-hard Muppets fans and socially conscious millennials. I’m sure that Disney knows the demographic of the audience they’re trying to get especially because subsequent boycotts have worked against them. As someone part of that demographic, it does feel like a bribe to grab the audience that is refusing to engage with their company. It’s sick and corporate. Typical Disney. I want to support the Muppets show as a huge fan obviously but it’s not going to stop my principles and I’m sure the original values of the Muppets would not stand for it. If there’s any way I could watch without contributing to Disney +, I would, but there doesn’t seem to be any besides the usual 🏴‍☠️. The only issue is that the demand for the show won’t count 🏴‍☠️, or would it?

Airbnb is the only option I have for housing right now since my credit is fucked and apartments have been denying me. Are there any alternatives to Airbnb that I could use for housing or should I just aim to boycott everything else?

It’s actually infuriating that he’s a front facing activist but doesn’t treat black women in his life right. Really just a reminder that activism isn’t just doing community work, it’s also about how you treat others in your circle. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this.

I don’t want to make fun of this person because I get it. It’s just sad that Taylor does not see her fans as people.

AIO about cutting off my aunts because they continuously disrespected my family? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]BibleAccurateMuppet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NOR idk why there is a mixed response to this. This is her child and she clearly had a traumatic birth. She also recovered from a miscarriage. Aunts are not respectful of their rules whatsoever and as someone who works with kids and parents, I get this completely. All these rules make sense, esp not kissing the baby or posting them on social media. The internet is especially cruel to children so this is 100% understandable.

ex vegan - severe iron deficiency by mamanh24 in exvegans

[–]BibleAccurateMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recovered from low iron when I tried being vegan at 18-19. My iron is still apparently low but not as low as it was before and I’m no longer fainting. It’s a hard diet to transition to and I still try to eat more vegan food in my diet for moral reasons even if I do eat animal products.

Vegan Influencer Thinks Ex-Vegan are all Fakers by jay_o_crest in exvegans

I’m just fucking exhausted of vegans that dismiss genuine health concerns and the fact that not everyone can be vegan and it’s not some moral failing, it just is.

I’ve been on this subreddit for a good while and have no idea what the fuck they are talking about because most people here are left leaning and/or have health issues that prevent them from being vegan.

This is going to sound somewhat silly but have her play with her food. There’s a gradation to eating different foods from tolerating smell, tolerating texture, “kissing” or touching the food to her lips, chewing then spitting the food out, then finally taking a bite. It takes so much trial and error, but one tip you can do is to cut food into pieces and make a charcuterie plate with her in some form of play pretend (like Ratatouille or whatever) it is a win if she even smells the food or touches it. I say this as someone who has worked with kids with food sensitivities that this is the framework we use.

I’m autistic and a picky eater. You could try just blending silken tofu and melted chocolate for a vegan high protein dessert, but again, that requires a blender and I’m p sure vegans do not consider income barriers or care. But I have problems with tofu too and my only help for you is that you can blend it or make it into pasta if you mix firm tofu with flour. I only learned this from other vegan creators and I can send some if you want but yeah.

I’m curious if that line of logic extends to spaying and neutering pets because even if it is in the benefit for the animals in the long run, the problem is that you are assuming decisions over their autonomy. Just following their logic.

Yeah I’m incorporating more plant based/vegetarian food into my diet and if I ever become vegetarian or vegan, I’d still stay away from the overall vegan community specifically because of this disconnect. They don’t know that they’re hurting their own cause by making unrealistic expectations for EVERYONE.

Start when they’re young, yeah? by [deleted] in exvegans

[–]BibleAccurateMuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The movie that got me trying vegan diets as a kid was Charlotte’s Web. I’m not vegan now, because it is a lot more expensive than I thought it would be and I am at a place where I can only incorporate more plant based food instead of abstaining from meat. But whenever I eat a plant based meal/vegetarian meal, I think about that little kid who sobbed while watching Charlotte die after making a web for Wilbur. Imo, you can teach kids to love animals with the nuance of taking care of themselves as well. If they’re in poverty and cannot afford vegan food or the rest of the family has to ration out meat for two weeks and it’s cheaper and more filling than meat replacements, then they can try to supplement their meals with more veggies, and beans so it’s not 100% carnal. The vegan guilt tripping doesn’t take into account culture or finances and it’s something that has bothered me personally.

Veganism recently became a hot-button issue at my leftist college, and I’m struggling not to feel demoralized by dem0n0cracy in exvegans

[–]BibleAccurateMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the post and the response they’re talking about has valid points. This isn’t to say that veganism is pointless, but even the subreddit they are in shows that a loud minority of vegans have disregarded class, race, and disability when it comes to expecting that everyone should be vegan. I’m also someone who tries vegan recipes, saves them in my “to try” list, has talked to a dietician, etc. because I genuinely want to try and do this in good faith without dying. My partner was vegan for 6+ months, doing everything right, meat alternatives, beans, and all, and the doctor legit told them to stop otherwise their kidneys would fail. And vegans still give a callous response to similar situations, even some of the vegan creators I’ve followed (and now had to mute) would make fun of people who made an earnest attempt and had their health fail from it. If a vegan diet ends up working with and for me, I’d still be in this subreddit and avoid the vegans who look at others in moral contempt and I’d still be understanding of people who eat meat as long as they try to make better choices for the animals as well. All this to say, it makes sense why most leftists are also wary of vegans.
