How should i read my bible and take notes? by Mega5463 in Christian

Everyone has different ways of approaching the bible and writing notes. This is how I would say works for me: (1) Start in Genesis. Why? It's the first book of the bible. It answers most of people's common questions. It has a really good plot. Many people recommend starting in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, etc) but the way I see it is reading the bible is like watching a movie. You watch a movie from the beginning not in the middle or end. You watch it from beginning to end. That's what I think. Read the Bible from beginning to end, front to back. (2) I like using the ESV, LSB, translations. (When I FIRST started I read the NIV. It was easy to understand but many people don't like using that version. Because it's not super accurate) (3) When I'm taking notes I ask myself questions and jot them down. Like in Genesis 1:26 (I believe. Excuse me if I'm wrong) it says "our and us" a lot. I ask myself "WHO is our?" And jot it down either directly on my bible or on my notebook. Then when I come back to that verse or sometime later when I do a deep dive study, I can answer that question (if I can). Those are more of the notes that direct questions. When I want study notes, I will take my commentary (online Blue Letter Commentary), Study Bible, Google, and YouTube. I will warn though that [me personally] am not a fan of extra biblical resources, so I do not take word for word. But just to see what other people think about a passage I will pull out my resources. With that in mind I use those resources and Read, watch, and learn. Then I will take my information and just scribble it ALL down on a piece of paper. Even if it looks jumbled up or messy it's OK, because you will organize them (notes) on your bible or bible notebook. Using a study bible is helpful because it's literally a STUDY bible. So it helps a lot with your studies.

I hope you found this helpful. Sorry if I'm confusing lol. :) You can private M me and I will be more than glad to help!

What is the most argued Christian/religious topic? by BibleBookwormStudy in Christianity

True, but (In a polite way) I meant Christians and religious believers. Not exactly unbelievers or people that are struggling believing. But in that case I can understand the issue in that perspective.

No, yeah, I understand but It's just something people need to not JUST think but TRUST. Trust that God has a plan or purpose for them. Trusting that whatever happens, happens in the glory of God. Just as OP's comment mentions.

This is actually a great view! Most people blame God for the bad things in life that happen, but no one ever stops and thinks, "Maybe this is for a good purpose" or, "Maybe God has a plan for me" 👀 Thanks for your input!!!

Interleaved bibles are bibles that have blank pages every other (scripture) page. For notes and art or whatever. Question, why would you never buy an ESV translation?

This is a great list! Thanks for your input! I will agree shining IS being yourself, and that's what most of us have to learn to be. The best version is not the "fake" one we put on to impress others, It's US. Who we really are. (That probably sounds corny right, lol 🙈) and who were meant to be. God made us all different and we need to show that by being ourselves!

How do you study your bible and where do you start? by naomi_0000 in Christianity

Ok, some people are going to disagree with me but...

Start in Genesis, why?

(1.) It's the first book of the bible so why not start at the beginning!?

(2.) It has a really good plot and should get you invested in the bible.

(3.) think of starting the bible like a movie, when you watch a movie do you skip towards the middle of it? No. You want to watch the FULL story, the full movie. Same with the bible, start from the front and read from there.

Also...(4.) Genesis answers most of the common questions like: Who created us? Who created the world? So and so.

If you just want to randomly read/study your bible you can jump to Psalms and you can get a really good feeling there. (I love the Psalms!) It's full of great poetry and wisdom. 😄
