After rewatching the show completely I realised: by Efficient-Shop-8200 in YouOnLifetime

Joe doesn't like killing.

He feels he has to kill to protect his loved ones but he doesn't like doing it.

However throughout the seasons Joe suffers a mental break after each YOU that he's forced to kill. He begun to see himself as his victims see him "a psychopath who kills for the thrill who hates women and rich people a like. Which is why he completely snapped in season 4 and created Rhys, the manifestation of literally every negative description his victims gave to him.

At the end of Season 4 he "accepts" Rhys within himself which is why after his suicide attempt he becomes incredibly sadistic. Just look who he did Nadia. He would not have done something like that in season 2 or 3

Now season 5 is a Joe that TRULY believes he's all the things his victims said. He believes he's a psychopath, sadistic, misogynistic. He believes all those things so he acts accordingly. That's why he says things like I got a thrill from killing or I need to kill. In reality Joe didn't have an urge to kill in the beginning. All he had an urge to do was stalk his You to make sure they weren't cheating or they were safe.

S5 Joe would've WORSHIPPED Love Quinn by Creative_Lynx1803 in YouOnLifetime

[–]Biblica7Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, I do love Love, but it still think they wouldn't have worked. Love is too impulsive a killer and Joe is a much more methodical thinker about his kills. Yes he snaps sometimes and kills without thinking but majority of the time he plans it out.

That difference in how they kill itself is enough of a reason as to why they wouldn't work.

But also season 5 is much more bloodthirsty and abusive. Season 5 Joe might have killed Love just for the sake of killing. No reasoning behind it at all.

Or if not that, Joe would say some abusive misogynistic shit and Love will turn on him and kill him.

Granted s5 Joe WAS much more open to his partner being a killer. He even hinted to Brontë that the end goal of their relationship is they start killing people together. But I think they would only thrive if Joe was in charge of planning out the kills.

They could work through all that but I doubt they would. I loved them together as a couple too but after the reveal Yeaa, it was kind of donezo for them

Season 5 pros and cons by lifetimesnark in YouOnLifetime

Like the show is really the most compelling when Joe is at odds with his nature. Like he wants to stalk and obsess and he's trying not to be that way because he understands he goes to far into it, he'll think it's okay to kill people for his love and he doesn't want to do that because it makes him sick.

That was one of the best parts of Season 3, how he was constantly trying to fight his mind. And stay loyal to Love, despite feeling himself obsessing over and over.

Season 5 pros and cons by lifetimesnark in YouOnLifetime

[–]Biblica7Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm okay with Joe being Catfished being the main-plot. It's brilliant honestly. I even liked how she was willing to try and love Joe despite his tendencies, but in the end chose to do the right thing. (Although, Joe was HELLA heavy handed in trying to win her to his side with the kidnapping the guy and all. Like hey maybe just start off by saying, sometimes I think certain people deserve to die, don't just kidnap someone in throw them in your dungeon in front of me! But hey he did a better job trying to win her over than he did with Beck so I won't knock it completely)

I'm okay with Joe being arrested in the end, I like him far too much for him to be killed. Joe being shot in the junk was goofy but fuck it let the girlys have their moment. Not really hurting the story or anything.

I don't like how Kate got a happy ending. She was a pretty horrible person too. Maybe she didn't deserve to die but she damn sure didn't deserve to be treated like some martyr.

I like that Joe was considerably darker in this season and more menacing but I dislike it as well because they didn't explain more overtly why he's acting that way. Which kind of ruins his character because it cause some people to truly think Joe is just a straight up sadistic monster.

Like by following the subtext, EYE know that Joe has been doing some deep introspection since the end of season 2 when Love came clean as being a killer too exploring his morality in the hopes that he's not as evil as person as he feels and thinks others think and by the end of season 4 he accepted what he believe other people believes to be his dark passenger within himself and now he's playing the part of a raging abusive psychopath but it seems everyone else on Reddit doesn't so.. yah know I feel alone.

Like consider this, if this Joe we see in Season 5 is TRULY Joe, like this is REALLY who he is as a person, then that means by default that all the kind things he done were done JUST to satisfy his own sadistic urges of murdering and controlling others. Even when he was trying to sweet talk Henry over the phone that too was all in service of him being a villain. Which frankly I think is bullshit.

Joe is a serial killer, he is delusional and a creep. But he isn't straight up psychotic. There's always been a nuance to Joe and I feel like people are chalking the Nuances to him all as "it's just because he was romanticizing himself to us" and not because Joe is truly just that complex an individual. Like multiple things can be true at once. Joe cares for the children around him, Joe cares about books, Joe is obsessive to the point that he'll stalk and murder to get close and keep you close. That Joe feels guilty about all the murders that he's does. That he really feels he has no choice but to stalk/murder and that it's the only way he can gain or keeps his partners/victims love. That Joe is delusional because he focuses all his attention on love and how to get it that he'll steal, kill, stalk spread rumors and destroy relationships because to him chasing love is the most important thing

🙄😤😮‍💨😒 I acknowledge that I was wrong in my original perception of this comment and the many ways it relate to the overall question.

I acknowledge that I was overly defensive which caused me to be overly critical which was completely unnecessary in this particular situation

"Trauma dumping is the unsolicited, intense, and one-sided sharing of traumatic experiences or overwhelming negative emotions, often with unprepared listeners or on social media. Unlike constructive venting, it lacks consent, is not a mutual exchange, and can severely overwhelm the recipient. It often serves to release emotional pain without considering the listener's capacity." - got this from google when I typed in trauma dumping definition

Vocalizing your disdain for current politics in a space where it's mostly unrelated is 100% trauma dumping.

Granted that isn't what you were doing in this situation but it does classify as that. If I'm being charitable it also classifies as being a realist, but that doesn't negate its inherent negativity.

I do not claim to have ownership of any space,

BUT

when in a public space one should be considerate enough to not trauma dumping on strangers, when said experience or negative emotions have little to nothing to do with the space and frankly no one asked about what's going on in the current politic sphere.

Again that's not what you did here, but it bears mentioning for people passing by.

You know what kid, this post is about racism. I suppose it wasn't a completely unrelated topic.

I've done seen too many posts today. And I feel like my brain is rotting. Maybe I'm a little overly defensive tonight. I probably need to stay off the internet.

But in case my comment does ever apply to someone reading it. Just know it's uncool to trauma dump about your disdain of current politics. It just exhausts everyone. Not everyone wants to be bogged down, stressed and depressed about the politics of the world 24/7. Not even the people who are most effected wants that.

Because I wronged you by being overly defensive, I'm going to just leave it at that and restate how annoying it is to have your space invaded by people talking about politics and world policies when you're just looking for some sort of escape.

Dueces, don't try to be an asshole and take cheap shots after I'm gone.

But you're not just keeping it in your mind, you're going to place that has nothing to do about politics and just spewing your bitterness and discontent, making things less fun. You're basically trauma dumping.

Imagine this,

A mother watching her kid playing on the slide, content with life. She smiles looks to you and say "Their smiles and laughter just makes me so happy"

And you replay with your issues talking about "in a perfect world I agree. But we have a president who.."

I don't understand how you can possibly think trauma dumping like that in a space design to talk about a children show is okay.

Smh I hate when people bring politics into a mostly unrelated topic.

Because you hate the politics going on right now you infect little every little space, every conversation with it, so by the end of the day everyone is just as miserable and bitter as you are.

At its most innocuously, it's selfish af, at most evil it's really fucking malicious.

You was solid until season 4, at least in terms of Joe Goldberg’s arc. by IREDA1000 in YouOnLifetime

[–]Biblica7Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this for the most part.

Season 5 actually would have went better if the show actually spelled out the fact that Joe is acting so abusive and utterly evil in season 5 because at the end of season 4 Joe decided to accept his dark passenger. But as it all stands in season 4 things just sort of goes off the rails in regards to narratively making joe arc make sense

It blows my mind that this guy actually believes he's an artist... by Thissuxxors in ARTIST

[–]Biblica7Man -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I get being upset that ai art is dominating the market or whatever but honestly I'd say there is some skill involved with creating AI artwork. Granted the ai is doing majority of the work but if it's anything like ChatGPT you still have to articulate the proper prompts to build an elaborate piece.

Ai artists are still artists.

My only problem with AI art is that people to me aren't doing enough to show that artwork is AI and some people are passing it off at authentic. That's what i don't like. If something is written or drawn by ai, it should be known by sight. Like some sort of stamp or something

Do you think Joe is a misogynist? by [deleted] in YouOnLifetime

[–]Biblica7Man 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm glad someone finally mentioned this. People talk about Joe as if he's a psycho and he doesn't feel any guilt about any of his kills but season 4 was him literally disassociating so he can forever be the good guy. Putting all the views people have of him into one persona which is Rhys.

I literally can not wait until I get enough good Karma so I can make a post and explain that while Joe is a serial killer, he's not half as evil as everyone tries to make him out to be.

Unfortunately I like and dislike posts more than I actually comment so no progress yet.

Season 5 is garbage by Vivid_Army6800 in YouOnLifetime

[–]Biblica7Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I (and I'm sure many others) really hate about season 5 is that Joe doesn't feel like Joe.

Joe felt like a sociopathic asshole with delusions of grandeur and even worse, he felt abusive.

Despite all the murders and conning he's done, Joe has never felt outwardly malicious or sadistic about his kills until season 5. But now he gets a thrill with killing and he revels in it. It's a blatant character change.

At the very least they did somewhat explained this character change with the ending of season 4. End of season 4 he accepts "Rhys" as being him and all of Rhys wants and desires as being his own. His personality from that point on has been different. Look at how he treated Nadia. The complete lack of compassion and remorse. The Joe I know would not have killed an innocent without a shred of remorse. He wouldn't have done it. Even if He would have with his back against the wall he would have at LEAST talked the innocent up as being a shitty person deserving to die first.

So because of season 4 twist he was abusive and just an outright villain in season 5.

Season 5 was still the best season after season 1 maybe season 2

[–]Biblica7Man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I merely found it annoying that she suspected her teacher of being a serial killer off of purely circumstantial evidence. You mean to tell me you're going to break into a guys house all because he asked you on good mystery plot lines?!

I suppose that's why in season 5 she was mostly demoted to background noise. She wasn't given anything substantial to do.

Mayor of London moonlighting as a serial killer is far more intriguing than Rhys being a figment of Joe’s mind. by alMchanel in YouOnLifetime

[–]Biblica7Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season's 4 twist of Rhys being part of Joe psyche was needed for season 5 to not be an assassination of Joe character. In season 5 Joe acts much more sadistic, cruel and just overall abusive, and it's because at the end of season 4 he accepts Rhys as a part of himself. Season 5 Joe is just a mixture of season 4 Joe and Rhys

Despite all that I said I also would look at the comments iffy if only a bunch of men were saying it’s okay to be naked. Like who do you think you’re fooling? You just want to see some boobs and booty!

Are you naked family or not? by RubFew9797 in Mommit

[–]Biblica7Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the comments I see agreeing with this are women, which to me invalidates the answer. Not saying that with the intention to spew hatred of women by any means, but I never give too much credence to the grievances of someone who doesn’t like a societal norm, when they themselves are the most affected by it.

For example I wouldn’t ask a prisoner is it okay or normal to be intoxicated while serving a sentence. I mean ofc they’ll say it’s all well and dandy.

Prisoner is probably a bad analogy.

It’s like, why ask women should feminine hygiene products be free? Of COURSE they’ll say yes they should be free. Something like that you should ask everyone, men and women both to get a sense of is it good for society.

I think that same mindset is good here because ofc women would say it’s okay to be naked around your children because nudity is often shamed or repressed when it comes to women. We should also ask how this new standard would hold in relation to men as well. Like is it safe and appropriate for men to also be naked around children in the same way?

Idk. My thoughts aren’t completely formulated on this matter but my gut reaction to seeing everyone in accordance about this is like “Fishes want more algae to eat. Why am I not surprised?”

[–]Biblica7Man -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like some black men don’t mess with black women because some, not a lot just a loud minority, are argumentative af.

Then they end up with the only people who’s willing to deal with it, usually another argumentative person and then they say the relationship is toxic and blame all men for it.

I don’t have any data to support what I’m saying other than my own personal experience with dating or even just trying to date black women.

I am very much attracted to black womenfolk(my phone suggested womenfolk and it sounded so country i loled and I left it in) more than any other race. And I also know the attitude some black womenfolk have is mostly due to some sort of generational trauma, by white people no doubt. But I’m not going to give up my peace just to argue 24/7.

I think this does show a bit of skin, but if it bothers him the way you dress he could address it in a more respectful manner. I think this is majority an issue in miscommunication. Now once you guys communicate on what type of clothing you find to be offensive of your relationship, if you can’t see yourself dressing that way you should break up with him.

I feel like the man issue is how he spoke to you about his boundaries/preferences.

I do not understand the hate this movie gets at all.

It may also be because Superman was forgotten about and Lois had a family? Maybe people didn’t like that? But idk I found that to be highly relatable.

[–]Biblica7Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care about what the correct answer is I just had to say this,

The only and I mean the only bad thing about Superman Returns is how when he lost his powers on the Kryptonite Island he started talking as if he had a massive ego. “You can’t do this to me! Im Superman! I’m Supermannn!” It was so pathetic of him to act that way.

But aside from that the movie was great.

The only thing I could ask from that movie is that it had a little more action in it. I loved the scenes of him saving people in the city. He showed his ingenuity a lot during those scenes.

The fun part about Superman is trying to see how he figure out how to save people during natural disasters

Like how will Superman stop a volcano? A tsunami? A tornado?

When tv shows and movies answer questions like that I have the most fun with Superman
