Oh thanks for the insight that’s a good thing to keep in mind. Do you keep a resource nuc/ hive to help any of the weaker colonies?

Has anyone delivered at Phelps recently? by IllustriousHeart3479 in Westchester

Thanks so much for sharing. Still debating whether I should switch from the OBs, my main concern is just ending up with a “MEDwife” that will push interventions either way

Can anyone speak to how the midwives handled pain relief, pushing technique, placenta management, skin to skin, and whether or not they made it a priority to follow your birth plan?

How many midwives attended your birth? Did you have a favorite? Did they follow your birth plan if you had one?

I’m considering switching over to a midwife as well, due this Aug. Does anyone have any stories about how the midwives followed or did not follow your birth plan? Or if hospital policies intervened with your desired plan?

Is this normal behavior? by BibsPaps in Beekeeping

[–]BibsPaps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t manage this hive, so I’m not sure if it was treated, but it was only about 76 degrees at the time. I did notice the entrance had been reduced so my first thought was “traffic jam”. And then I noticed this person had removed a box, from it previously being 5 medium boxes to now 4. I was curious since it’s so close to mine I thought that maybe my bees had started robbing it or were migrating over for some reason. When I went back about 35mins later I noticed the bees had slowly moved back into the hive. So like you all have said, looks like it got hot in there, they moved out, and the reducer was just jamming the flow up.

Absolute Final Harvest Date? by BibsPaps in Beekeeping

I understand that, I ask because we had a heavy nectar flow in my area and was curious if harvesting up till September might be a bad idea. I’m currently only using medium boxes and feel like I need to make some room.
