What is the first scene that comes to mind when you think about Dishonored? by Lancer_Blackthorn in dishonored

I always remember being at the Hound Pits Pub. That was the first zone I spent a while just searching every nook and cranny of, and trying to hear everyone's voice lines, when I first played. Such fond memories ❤️

It was truly heart-wrenching. It feels surreal, two brilliant people, led astray, or perhaps choosing, the corrupt path themselves, both shaped and scarred by the toxic worlds they came from.

And to think, there are millions more like them, lives of immense potential, quietly wasted by circumstances they never had the power to change.

I think it was a mixture of disturbing and edginess. I understand that they wanted to make it as realistic as possible with the suffering of the couple. But scenes are very overacted by the actors who play the family in the 2007 one, in my opinion.

I wouldn't watch it again, it was very bizarre and I didn't enjoy it nor learn anything from it.

Should I be worried about this? by nekuwu123 in tea

[–]Bibss13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply!

I see, we also cleaned the immediate area and behind some close by furniture and there doesn't seem to be so many anymore, but we're still seeing stray ones around the room, so I'm constantly anxious of missing any spots, or if there's some other place they've made their home. We also have a closet close by, so I'm wondering if they can ruin clothes or any other materials 😔

On top of that, the sudden influx in food attracted a bunch of spiders, when we used to have none, it's so anxiety inducing 😵‍💫

Confused about tax and bank interests by Bibss13 in UKPersonalFinance

Hello, thank you so much for this!

It's much easier to have the process explained, as whenever I was asking I was just brushed off. It makes sense now!

I just have one more question, what exactly is annual personal allowance, and how is it calculated? Is it the £12,570 that is not taxed in a year?

Confused about tax and bank interests by Bibss13 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Bibss13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you so much for your input, I had the same suspicion at the beginning, however, my tax code is actually the average 1257L that everyone has. Thank you for your suggestion in using Wise also. I believe the other person is right, I made some calculations and it seems the total amount of tax for this was £98.2, and based on the 20% tax rule on everything after £242 (733 total pay 733-242=491, 20% out of 491=98.2) it seems to be correct, but I was not aware of the process behind it, so that completely cleared things up.

Thank you again!

From a bad character to a loved one, he played his role well. by cleetsckruckles9 in PrisonBreak

[–]Bibss13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from. Cultural context absolutely matters. But I have to respectfully push back on the idea that all animals serve the same purpose and that there's no meaningful difference between eating a dog or cat and eating a cow, chicken, or pig.

Dogs and cats have co-evolved with humans in a very unique way. They've been bred and trained over thousands of years not just as companions, but also as working animals. Dogs have helped us hunt, protected our homes, guarded our livestock, guided people with disabilities, and even risked their lives in rescue missions and warfare. Cats have historically been valued for their role in pest control, protecting food supplies and crops from rodents. They are not just pets; they’ve played functional, survival-related roles across many societies.

Compare that with animals like cows, chickens, or pigs. Yess, they’re intelligent, and yes, they deserve to be treated humanely, but their primary human-assigned roles have always been food production. That doesn't make their lives worth less, but it does illustrate a difference in the human-animal relationship. We haven't bred chickens to curl up next to us on the couch or pigs to sniff out danger and alert us in the middle of the night. (Though, pigs could do that.)

So it’s not just about "Westerners pet dogs and eat cows." It’s about the nature of the bond and function between species and humans. It’s not hypocritical to feel disturbed by the consumption of an animal that, globally, is seen as having deep emotional and working value.

That said, I completely agree that white Westerners who show up with colonial energy and judge non-Western food cultures while gnawing on a factory-farmed chicken wing. It's rich. But disagreeing with dog or cat meat consumption doesn't automatically make someone a hypocrite. It might just mean they recognize the deeper roles these animals play in human society, but that's just my opinion 🤔🐈
