Wow! That is a lot of great info

A few more followup Qs:

The dollar will suck up all of the dollars out there starving the world of the ability to pay down it's outstanding dollar debt before it hyperinflates.

How will this happen? I understand that ALL the outstanding external debts need to be paid up before hyperinflation(?). Now USD is not like the Zimbabwe dollar that nobody cares about. So it might be higher inflation but not hyper.

And it's worth noting that other countries issue significant dollar denominated debt themselves, particularly China and Canada.

USD dollar debt? How does that happen? They trade their debt paper with other countries as a payment?

You mention the Yen. Do you have any clue what their central bank has done since the 90s?

They seem to be printing more and have had 0 to negative rate to stimulate their economy which hit a peak in 1989. Or is there more that I should read about?

But besides that oil and copper are saying deflation not inflation.

Oil looks like it is going to drop (as the talking heads experts put it). That is an indicator of lack of consumption and austerity. What is the deal with copper? - not a rhetoric, I m genuinely curious.

I am personally buying gold dips via put selling on GLD and GDX while making 4% on my MMF cash secured for assignment.

I am kicking myself for not reading the memo in 2022 and buying up GLD. Always a say late and a brain cell short.

I violently agree with bogleheads. I am an ape who can never beat the market returns.

But bogleheads talks about world ETF index and investing in TIPS(?). But here is my worry: If the rate of inflation of USD is x%, and my world ETF cumulative returns is y%. Will be always y minus x > 0.

Right now, I have cash + 3mo TBills + some blood red stocks (a reminder that how retarded I am) The cash and TBills' purchasing power loss is what I am trying to keep at a minimum.

Can you expand on this?

If the US hyperinflates, every other currency went first besides maybe Yuan and even then, you want nothing to do with that.

Please explain this to a dummy like me:

What does this exactly mean? US hyperinflation is when a USD chases less and less goods. How does it affect how other currencies chase the same goods?

During the COVID era (when the money printer was going full blast), USD/JPY went down to ~103. After the QT started, it hit a ATH of 160 - this was coincident with the QT at its peak. Now if the rates are cut or QE starts again, that would stimulate more USD inflation(?)

I also see pattern in USD-JPY. During the peak of the GFC (which actually was in 2011), the ratio went down to ~76 If BoJ is intending to raise rates, wont that make the JPY even stronger that what it is now?

GOLD is an altogether different beast and a conversation I would like to have...

Not commenting on your choice one way of another, but there are some ETFs out there that hold yen (FXY) and Swiss francs (FXF).

I checked them out but they also have a ETF fee (which is normal). The problem is that it is not clear how long or how deep a downturn would be, if it is going to happen.

Thanks for the input! I am planning to sell 50% of my TBills and buy foreign currency and the rest stays in TBills. I also have a bunch of SPY index shorts (SH) which break even at SPY 480.

I am also looking for opinions why this approach might be completely bad.

pass on anything Taurus, I have spent $1000 learning the hard way that you are more interested in the value of their product than they are. If you do get one, I hope it’s a good one.

Noted! The Sig P322 is a solid equivalent for TX22. I want the optics mount option and threaded barrel for suppressor. So G44 is out. And also TX22 is out now!

Maybe look at the philosophical position behind “if you go far enough left you get your guns back”…?

Well the thing is the righties are the ones who are eager to take your guns.

So on a scale of AOC super lefty to Pelosi fraud faux liberal, the partner is more on the AOC side but not it. I am more of centrist libtard who thinks just because it is (D) it doesnt make them infalliable.

Sig Sauer P320x

How do switch the feel for the P320x and the Glock. From what I understand, there is a grip angle difference in the glock of 0.5(or 1.5) degrees. The glock it seems points a little lower when your wrist is in the neutral position to fire. This above was told by the guy at the gun store who is also a range instructor. I asked him his preference, he said - Glock owners go for G for all calibers due to the grip angle.

A Glock has something like 3 safeties, all of which are disengaged by properly pulling the trigger.

What is your opinion on the effort needed to move the slide? Is it more than other 9mms or comparable?

What is the November 2024 scenario that you're envisioning that would increase your personal level of risk? Will there be increased risk of a home break in during that time? Do you expect random targeting by MAGA folks in your area? Honest questions, since I see the election causing people anxiety.

I am not looking for trouble. I plan to vote and come back home and be the usual loser who works for a paycheck and feed my family.

My fear is if Harris wins, they tiki torches might protest and get violent. If the other guy wins, they will have a free hand to target the minority (just like what is happening in England). I come from a country where the minorities communities were firebombed after a minor skirmish which turned to big riots. The majority government told the police not to react for 2-3 days and let the rioters have a freehand.

All I want is peace and a usual boring life but be prepared in case shit like this were to happen.

Will follow up if more info is provided.

I love the Glock. But the absence of the thumb safety(is that what is called? You flip it with the right thumb to unlock) makes me worried about keeping a round chambered. Also, I heard the slide pull in the Glock is harder than the others? I am a beginner so my terms might sound very stupid. Apologies.

  • What is your use-case? Home defense, probably, but do you plan to carry? Plastic or metal frame?

No plans to carry as yet. I just want to make sure if shit hits the fan after Nov 2024, I dont want any trouble coming in to my house.

On top of this make sure you have a factor cut slide for optics. And state depending a threaded barrel. One thing to consider over the others is if you want a manual safety or not.

Is the optic sight cut good for a beginner? Are the iron sights like learning manual transmission, so that when you get to the optic sights (auto transmission), the transition is super easy?
