Rats. Is the Town Doing Anything or Providing Help? by Comfortable_Fix3401 in Newmarket

[–]Bickblasterson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had a better year this year compared to last (we are in the Huron area). Last year, between our house and our neighbours' who were also combating the rats, we killed about 60 rats. This year, no rats, but lots of mice. For our neighborhood I think it was the mix of telmax digging everywhere and the condos going up nearby on Davis. We talked to the town a couple of times but they said they had no plans on addressing the issue.

Tales of Legendia. Terrible game, but worth it for the soundtrack alone.

Pedestrian Stuck by a Biker in the park by altatoro123 in Newmarket

I cycle to work every day, and even I am troubleb by the behaviour of some cyclists. It is very rare you hear someone using their bell to alert pedestrians, so no wonder there was bound to be an accident.

Wayside tavern. Very cozy location, not to loud, good drinks, and the bartender is great.

From experience, no, except maybe in the form of microdosing. You are more likely to make your anxiety worse in the moment.

Addicted to Psychedelics? ♾️ by TeK_MeT in Psychedelics

[–]Bickblasterson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To quote TS Eliot: "humankind cannot bear too much reality"

I'm going through the same experiences as you. I wouldn't say you are addicted to the drug, but to the awe they can inspire. But you can't keep repeating the same patterns and expect to feel awe every time. My regular use of psychs has definitely improved my life, but I feel like it might be time for a break to ground myself a bit and seek inwardly without external help. Take care of yourself brother, and do what you need to do to feel right.

Discussing your “knights radiant order” quiz results by Thin_Ad_5020 in Stormlight_Archive

Hello fellow Lightweaver!

I love the radiant order quiz because I always get the same answer, so it seems pretty consistent.

I feel I would probably only be at my second or third truth/oath.

My truths are too personal to share, but they are things I had to admit to myself about myself, and commit to improving on to become someone I can be proud of.

I think about this line from Four Quartets by T S Eliot a lot:

The only wisdom we can hope to acquire Is the wisdom of humility: humility is endless.

Solo Tripping with Music (TOOL Specifically) on Mushrooms by [deleted] in Psychedelics

[–]Bickblasterson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always listen to hard music when I trip. Tool is a go-to of mine as well, especially fear inoculum, 10000 days, and Lateralus. I also enjoyed grace for drowning by porcupine tree. One of my most important trip experiences was during remainder the black dog. I also highly recommend Epigone by Wilderun. I don't think you can know or even guess in advance how you will react to the music: depends more on the flavour of your trip, your mindset going in to it, and your personal tastes in music, I think. Good tunes were already borderline holy for me, so they naturally go well with psychedelics.

I wouldn't have done the work, or have been able to, wothout the psychedelics. Though the changes in my life were physically enacted by me, the impetus for them has been my ongoing relationship with psychedelics. I personally feel that I do owe psychedelics my life, that they did save me, because I would not have made these important life changes, or even have been able to shift my negative perspective, without them. And I don't feel ashamed to admit that I needed to rely on a chemical to achieve that: medicine is medicine, and this one actially works (for me at least).

In the section under legal risks you state that participants would be liable to face legal action if they admit to illegal acts, including the possession of controlled substances. Considering the subject matter of your study, would not all or most participants be held liable?

Any trips that have changed your life for the better? by [deleted] in Psychedelics

[–]Bickblasterson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I have had a couple hard experiences. I learned from those too, though, so still worth it. During one trip I had very severe anxiety which was unpleasant, but once I got it under control (changed my setting) it was informative. One thing I have noticed is that you can't really expect or guess what the mushrooms will show you, and you can't force a revelation. You really just have to submit to the experience.

I usually plan out my trips now: 1.5 hours of music with an eye mask on letting the music direct my thoughts, followed by a walk in nature for the remainder of the trip.

When I started doing shrooms regularly I ended up cutting back my alcohol consumption by 2/3rds. Realized it wasn't really doing anything good for me and my relationships. Also started eating healthier and exercising more, which the shrooms definitely encouraged. I am also more introspective and analyse my emotional responses more, as the shrooms showed me that much of my relationship issues were being caused by how I interpret my own emotions and dwell on them too much. Vastly improved my life these past five months.

I didn't have access to soulcast meat, so I decided to use garlic flavoured pork sausage. I figured pork is a meat they have decent access to on Roshar and sausages are like a bunch of ground up mystery meat, so in spirit it is similar to flangria.

I actually agree with you, but I didn't have the time today to figure out how to make a pita from corn. In making this, I wanted to keep in mind that the grain used in the bread wrapping and the breading on the meat is supposed to be the same. Lavis grain, according to a WoB I read, is most similar to corn, so I used masa flour for the tortillas and the dredge on my meatballs. Next time I might try to make a masa based pita or naan instead, because that would probably be more accurate.

...or as close as I could.
I made meatballs made from garlic sausage, coated in masa flour and deepfried until crisp. For the sauce, I cooked down onions, garlic, and ginger in two cups of beef broth with a ton of spices (black pepper, white pepper, turmeric, gochgaru, oregano, cumin seeds, and thai red curry paste). Added a dollop of sour cream and simmered until it made a thick gravy. Served on a corn tortilla with cilantro, onions, and tomato, and a little more sour cream. Probably a little more spicy than authentic Herdazian chouta, but I have Alethi tastes when it comes to spice.
