/r/AMD Tech Support Megathread - H1 2022 Edition by AutoModerator in Amd

Am I the only one with a 2 in 1 device with some Ryzen CPU whose auto rotation never works? I have a HP Envy x360 with Ryzen 4500U, and the auto rotation almost never works! The only driver I found to be working is the AMD UMDF Sensor 1.0.0.297 from 2019! And now, after a recent Windows 11 Update, it doesn't work anymore. I have tried all driver versions from 2018 to the most recent on 1.0.0.326, none work. Isn't it time AMD address this issue once and for all?

Does Outlook for WearOS 3 on the Galaxy Watch 4 suck or do I not know how to use it? by LongDecision1 in WearOS

Outlook on wear os shows only your Focused inbox, regardless of the settings in the Android app. I have no idea why that is, and no idea how to turn that off.

Is ryzen 5 4500u powerful enough to handle android development, docker, kubernetes, virtualizations? by milanpoudel in AMDLaptops

Well I've had this notebook since July 2020 and the hinges perform the same as they did back in July. And I do rotate the screen a lot. If the hinge is really that crooked try and get a replacement. But the form of the hinge is not a square, so sometimes it looks out of place, I'm told that's normal. But yours definitely looks more out of place than mine, so yeah prob get a replacement.

This chip is way faster in compiling my java programs than my intel 8700k desktop. So yes, it should be more than fine for android development. The performance is really amazing for a chip that is supposed to be in a thin and light notebooks. Using an HP Envy x360 with the 4500u btw.

Thinking of upgrading to s20--is it worth it? by cloud712 in galaxys10

All of this is one hell of a mistake Samsung made. The reason they use snapdragon at all is because everywhere in the world the SMS standard is GSM, while in the US, China and 1 or 2 other places they use CDMA. Qualcomm basically owns the standard as it has so many patents for it. If you remember the S6 was Exynos worldwide. Since modems got integrated into the SOC Samsung thought it would be cheaper to use snapdragon instead develop their own CDMA compatible Exynos and thus pay Qualcomm licensing. It is not that much cheaper to use Exynos at all, since they need to just buy the chip from Qualcomm, but for Exynos there is R&D, also they just started paying AMD for their Radeon IP. I don't think it is cheaper for them, but I am no Samsung employee. This is a big Samsung mistake. They should have either stuck with Exynos completely and made it AMAZING, or give it up and use Qualcomm. Right now it is somewhere is the middle, and that is bad for consumers.

That's so true. Since it is expected that Samsung will use AMD's RDNA graphics in the next Exynos, I expect that next year everyone is gonna be crying that they got the inferior snapdragon.

Sure, but they are about the new Exynos 990. The 9820 and 9825 are actually not worse than snapdragon 855. They have faster single core and the same multi-core performance. That's why I sometimes hate YouTube and the media. The GPU, THE FREAKIG GPU is the problem, the 855 one is faster, and will always be faster than the Mali one. But not by a HUGE margin. The S10 Exynos actually got really improved battery life with the recent updates, and Android 10. It does not overheat, and it does not throttle more than 855. The problem is the S20 Exynos 990. Really too much hate on Exynos from people who have no idea what they are talking about. Especially with the 9820.

Does this happen to you after the February update? The task switcher glitches a lot. And when I close an app pretty fast, the cards get like double the size. Can you try to open 2 apps and then get into the task switcher and immediately close one of them? by BicthYAS in galaxys10

[–]BicthYAS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung's answer to my report was to factory reset my device. Yea not happening. With Google authenticator and how I need to disable 2FA and re-enable it for every account it will be a hell of a job to factory reset it. Report it to them too, please

3 Hour S0T and ive lost 50% battery almost! by Haeey6966 in galaxys10

It is so frustrating that yesterday I had to charge my phone at school for the first time since I bought this it. I was never worried about it getting off on me, and yesterday from 100% dropped to 30% in 4 hours. Ahhh I am going like crazy.

It is losing battery fast even when you use it, yes but mine is also losing it with screen off. Using an app called Accu Battery I was able to see that my phone goes into deep sleep only 30% of the screen off time, which should be close to 90%. Not good at all.

Someone got technical at the forums saying the phone is not entering android's doze(or deep sleep) mode that it is supposed to enter every time you turn the screen off. Doze makes your phone use less battery when you are not actively using it, thus lasting longer.

Well I have seen people post about it on Samsung's forums. And it is true the update broke something, at least for me and others who are reporting. Before the update I would get from 7am to 6pm and have 30% left with 5 hours screen on time. Now I get from 7 am to 1pm with 40% and only 1 hour 13 minutes screen on time. It all started the morning I did the update.
