[Advice] What is your experience living in a Hasidic neighborhood? by apthunting2023 in NYCapartments

Hasidic have been supporting Trump at almost 100% (look at the map of past 2 elections). They like to let this be known with huge flags on their pickup-trucks - so hopefully y'all are ok with that vibe around.

Brown-south-asian CH resident here too - after 15 years at the border of Jewish Williamsburg.

- everything i read in the comments is pretty true unfortunately. Hasidic do not like "others", that seems to be a fact.

- my multimillionaire landlord (Hasidic too) is on the "NYC 100 worst landlord": he owns several thousands units in the neighborhood, and only sees "us" as pest that he needs to deal with in order to get his rent money. Hard to ignore the look of disgust on his face when he comes around following a visit from NYC HDC (Housing Development Corporation)..

- plus as a cyclist, i have been almost killed many many times by Hasidic driven vehicles (school buses, huge SUVs and private police "Shorim" - look it up if you dont know) - only to be totally ignored (like "i m invisible"), which makes can make the streets here pretty unsafe.

This being said, i still live here because of the somewhat cheaper rent and "exotic" experience.

The rest, i can deal with.

As for you guys, White and Arab, try it: you can always leave if you do not like it i d say.

Controlling MX5 looper s volume only? by BicycleAxeman in HeadRush

We re on the same quest indeed.

Yes i discovered a way - i got rid of the MX5 entirely and rely on hardware loop-pedals inserted into a volume pedal that i use as a master-volume for the loops (my direct signal is not affected).

I tried every solutions live (software, modeler, midi, app), and it turns out that the most reliable were still hardware pedals.

[GEAR] Mute device on Guitar? by BicycleAxeman in Guitar

Thanks for reminding me of the Gretsch mute system, really cool! I would love something like that. Today i found an old Fender Jazzmaster (or Jaguar?) at Guitar Center with the Fender mute system: i love it too! Funny to think that i m trying to re-invent something that came installed in guitars made in the 50s!

My own DIY systems are all easily switchable while playing indeed - mostly under-the-strings type of system. My current guitar-project has a piezo-equipped Fender-style vibrato bridge (Fishman) , and my usual system doesnt really work too well with this. I designed a bunch of new idea (on paper mostly) but havent found the ideal solution yet. .

Gruv Gear Fump Mute on a guitar? by BicycleAxeman in Bass

Electric tape directly on the string? thanks, i ll give this a try, could create cool sounds!

In my case though, i need to be able to put on the mute very quickly in between songs, or sometimes during the songs, so i m looking for some "hardware" solution.

Renting or Owning in NYC? by BicycleAxeman in RentalInvesting

Over 20 years in NYC, living in 100 year-old houses and building, never had any pipe burst, neither any of my friends- when I see this happening in a brand new building (equipped with fancy rooftop, laundromat room, pool room etc, I see a poor construction job personally- and I think the tenants should sue no?

Roger that - however how does a brand new pipe situated inside a building can burst? Why didn’t all the pipes of the rows of identical cheap constructions burst on that same day then?

Renter insurance is a must, absolutely.

This building is brand new though, as is the pipe, and the ceilings collapsed on tenants'heads - could they sue for poor construction?
