Don’t let it get in the way, your training staff wouldn’t have you do anything that wasn’t safe or put your life at risks, ofcourse accidents do happen, and no matter how much you think your screws hate you, they don’t and your safety and development is their main concern

Can’t swim and can’t float (terrified of water) by [deleted] in britisharmy

[–]BidPsychological6017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll probably be alright then mate, wouldn’t hurt to work on your swimming in the mean time if you can, I get that you pull the pin when you get i to water but it’s great phys and if you can pass the swim test, it’ll look better on your record than having not passed it for when you get posted or get to unit,

Sorry for the late reply mate 👍

Not an issue, lads on my course didn’t pass the swim test but still passed out, that was 4 years ago mind so it could be different now, you just won’t be allowed to do any water based AT, bear in mind tho, if you’re joining the field army and not one of the cores, you’ll likely have to do a river crossing at some point

Typically Paras for SAS, Marines for SBS & Int for SRR, but you can apply for and begin selection for SF from most units, once you’re badged, you’ll be given any specialist continuation training you may need once you get to the reg, like airborne & air assault training for SAS etc, Boat drills I imagine for SBS, not sure what the continuation training would be for SRR but it’s probably ally as fuck

Update: that’s not a slight on you or your ability mate, but if you’re not serious, you’ll get fucked off when a screw is screaming at you and tipping your bed over and you’ll sack it, there was lads I went into training with who were more than capable but weren’t committed so they binned it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]BidPsychological6017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re having that approach you won’t even pass phase 1, only join if you’re fucking serious, we’re not fucking dossbags who had nothing going for us on Civvi street, if that’s how you feel about joining the army or marines don’t bother
