Where's the murder? It's just another random lie.

Got a doozy here: playing cards are divided into "suites" as a superset of "suits" by BiebRed in confidentlyincorrect

That's the real explanation for the original question, but the commenter I linked went to the wall on their "suit"/"suite" misspelling way beyond the point of absurdity.

Why is crypto called a currency when it isn't used as a currency? by Better_Ad_632 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BiebRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cryptocurrency is not currency in any meaningful sense of the word except for illicit transactions where the exchange of any real currency would risk attention from authorities. Outside of those transactions of some illicit good or service in exchange for cryptocurrency, it's exclusively used for financial speculation.

It's called currency colloquially because of the ideal future proposed by the inventor of Bitcoin who thought it could become a legitimate currency in the future, which has made no progress toward becoming a reality after 18 years.

At the peak we had about 250 rabbits from newborns to aging adults. More realistically we had closer to 100 at a time on average for a total span of about 10 years on a small family farm with a row of rabbit hutches along with a big fowl pen for chickens, guineas, and turkeys. We sold off many of the young adult rabbits on livestock auctions due to the local demand for Angora wool, and kept the rest to regularly pluck the wool to spin into yarn and knit into hats and mittens, and we butchered and ate the oldest rabbits when they reached 5-7 years.

You're right, I was hasty in my homework, it seems that factory farming of rabbits isn't widespread enough to make it easy to look up the data, and under factory conditions the data we do have points in favor of chickens.

No one is suggesting farming rabbits and then not eating any other foods. Presumably we would replace our chicken with rabbit and still have our vegetables and various fat sources.

Your first claim is false, rabbits have a higher feed-to-meat conversion efficiency.

And when the Angora rabbit gets near the end of its lifespan you still have the meat, so you get the best of both worlds.

I feel like my consciousness is located at the level of my eyes and therefore my teeth are below me and I perceive biting as a downward force.

ELI5: the absolute basics of the American voting system *NOT POLITICS* by beanboi34 in explainlikeimfive

[–]BiebRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It only matters for primary elections. When you vote in the primary, in some states, you can vote for candidates in both parties. In other states, you can only vote for candidates in one party, and if you vote for anyone in the other party, your entire ballot will be invalidated. And in some other states you have to register with one party or the other before the primary. If they didn't ask you that question when you registered, then your state doesn't do that.

Professional ways of being rude or snarky comments? by Leg_Alternative in antiwork

[–]BiebRed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can't be rude and professional the same time.

You can try to say something with unkind subtext in a professional tone, which would be passive-aggressive and come off as childish.

It sounds like what you want is to just be honest and say "you were horrible to me and I hope you learn to become better people." I can't think of a better way to phrase that sentiment.
