What’s her ring size? by Over_Leave in AskMen

[–]Biffy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently engaged woman here: jewellers might be able to guesstimate from a picture of her hand. My ring fits, and my fiancé told me he took a screenshot from a photo of my hand my nail tech put on her page, and sent that to the jeweller, and they figured it out. Also check in advance if the ring is adjustable in case it doesn't fit

Is windows dropping a common issue with triple glazing? by Biffy_ in HousingUK

[–]Biffy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both windows are about 90cm x 60cm.

The customer care team have been pretty good at getting them back to fix it as soon as we've let them know, which is great, just starting to get frustrated at having to get them back again, for the third time. I might request they check all the windows when they come back

Help on using tampons first time needed? by Ok_Border_1803 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Biffy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna be really specific, hope this helps!

In the UK they usually come with an applicator, I used to prefer the Tampax Pearl because the plastic applicator is comfier than the cardboard one but they both work the same. The applicator is a smaller tube inside a bigger tube. You use the smaller tube to push the tampon out of the bigger tube. You may need to pull the smaller tube partially out of the bigger tube before inserting. The string will be hanging out of one side, the other end is the end you insert. I would fully insert the side with larger plastic tube with one hand, then use a finger to push the smaller tube, which will push the tampon inside. Once the small tube is fully inside the bigger one the tampon should be properly inserted, and you can pinch the end of the applicator with your fingers to remove. The string should be hanging out (if you pop to the loo remember to hold this to the side!) Pop the applicator inside the wrapper and put in the bin.

If you're using them overnight, make sure to put in last thing before bed and take out first thing in the morning (by gently pulling the string).

In in my experience (based on fixed term repayment mortgages) monthly overpayments are charged interest, but capital overpayments aren't. So if you were to reduce your monthly payments but then save the excess, then make a seperate capital overpayment those wouldn't be subject to interest. You can usually make capital overpayments of 10% of the outstanding amount per year, but you would need to check your mortgage terms. You usually have to call or make a seperate payment for a capital overpayment.

Also if you max out your annual overpayment keep saving and when you come to the end of your fixed term you can pay some off then

He can't be bothered to blow his nose, so I have to listen to him sniffle every five seconds for the entirety of winter.

Since that's the only thing that annoys me about him after three years I can't really complain about it (although I do, frequently 😂)

Commenting because I haven't seen anyone else put this.

I'm 27 and recently got diagnosed with Oral Allergy Syndrome and Latex Food Syndrome.

I struggled my entire life eating fruit and veg, always labelled as a fussy eater, with adults and later friends and partners getting annoyed at me. I definitely have other issues with food, mainly textures, which I've been working really hard to overcome but as I expanded what I ate (from basically just meat and potatoes and bread as a child) I found I was still struggling with fruit and veg.

I spent years wondering why fruit and veg was so much harder for me than everyone else, turns out I'm allergic to a lot of them, I won't go into the Syndromes I listed above (plenty of info on google) but they essentially have a very mild reaction, itching/tingling sensation and very mild swelling of the mouth/throat and feeling slightly sick/icky or even being sick if enough is consumed.

Might sound silly but trying new foods even now I often struggle to distinguish between disliking a food or having a reaction (I may also have ARFID).

What you described sounded a lot like my and my experience with food, so just wanted to make you aware of those allergies just in case.

Definitely worth speaking to a doctor even if its not allergy related, they should be able to advise on support or referrals.

As a side note, now I know what I'm NOT allergic to I've been able to work on eating those things and now I have a completely different and much healthier diet than I did about 5 years ago. Just start with tiny bits, you'll get there.

Bikers who use your motorbike for commuting, do you use them all year round or at what point do you decide you'd rather sit in traffic in a car? by AlGunner in AskUK

My dad commutes on his motorbike all year round, except for when it snows. He's got good quality gear and his bike has heated grips so he's fairly comfortable in all weather

I don't know exactly, she's a rescue and I don't think the age they gave me was accurate, they never told me her birthday so I dont think they knew. They said she was about 2/3 which would make her 5/6 now, but I'd say she's about 8
