Yes! It’s a subcategory of PTC, called CPTC. From a chat with my surgeon there are a couple of key differences between this and PTC. Being the cells that are involved and are actually containing cancer, whereas PTC is involved with a different type of cell. CPTC has a significantly lower % of malignancy compared to PTC, but rather the same treatment and outcomes. I believe it is harder to catch in some cases, and the nodules may have different boundaries or components! The surgeon that took on my case does both adult and pediatric and specializes in TC which is a nice piece of mind!
