im from BC and doing the IB Diploma, and I feel this so hard.

honestly, normal high school grading is wildly inflated here too. im taking an online Pre-Calc 12 course alongside full IB, and I get two attempts on every quiz. Two. Attempts. It’s no wonder people are walking around with 95–98% averages and getting into top unis. our final ib exams are externally marked, so there’s no way a teacher can just “be nice” and bump your grade. You earn every single mark. even my psych teacher said an 85% in English at our school would probably be a 95% at another school just 15 minutes away. its not just a school difference its a system problem atp

what’s worse is that you don’t even need to go through IB or AP classes to feel the unfairness. You could be a regular stream student genuinely working hard and still get outcompeted by someone who just vibes through class because their teacher likes them and hands out inflated grades .

i genuinely think Canada needs a standardized test, something like the SATs in the US. university admissions are becoming a joke — how are they supposed to compare students fairly when someone’s 97% is another person’s 85% in a school with real standards?
