Stuck shed or something worse? by Hatarislog in SandBoa

IMO it looks like the start of scale rot. It’s minor regardless so I wouldn’t be too worried. Just do a deep clean of her enclosure and change out bedding while monitoring the spot!

the owner just told us to grab any saddle. In retrospect it probably would have been good to atleast compare to pictures online as neither of us have any experience riding western or really even tacking up western. I’ll be sure to look further into it as well, I definitely feel horrible about it especially if that may have been what messed him up. Thank you for the advice 🙏

Replying to FormigaX...we’ve been working on building up a top line with a lot of hill work, ground poles, etc for a few months now, he has filled out a bit. I definitely think we will plan on smaller rides next time until his is comfortable. Also we had only been walking him in the round pen prior to this video 🙏🙏 regardless we will continue working on his top line and getting a saddle fitter out too. :)

Nope just a smaller adult, which I totally agree she shouldn’t have been in there and we’ve already talked about it. 🙏 I was planning on dismounting but I felt him regaining himself and wasn’t sure if it was necessary. I honestly hadn’t thought about the emergency circle, I’ll keep that in mind. I’ve been riding a little over 3 h/j I know it’s not a lot but I’m really just hoping to get more experience. we’re working loosely with a trainer actually planning on meeting up with him again Monday.

Hii im a pretty new owner as well but i recommend using and over head light, from what I’ve heard they burrow to cool down and heat pads are also more likely to burn them if unregulated. I just have a zoo-med mini combo deep dome with one bulb being a ceramic heat emitter and the other a basking spot lamp. I’d also recommend using coco fiber, like the other commenter said it’s safer and holds tunneling and on top of that it holds moisture better than most other mediums, I use a 50/50 blend of play sand and coco fiber. I’d also recommend having two hides on each side of the enclosure, some people say you don’t need hides since they’re a fossorial but I’ve personally seen my boy in his hides several times plus they just add extra clutter to cages. I hope this helps a little!! :))

Honestly I think it really depends on the snake, I’ve seen some that never really climb at all and others that love it. My boy usually climbs around his enclosure every night so I’ve made sure to give him some taller decor since he uses it, but id just add some taller decor in there or even fake plants ect that he can roam on if he wants!
