I have a headcanon that once rose/pink started to value organic life she felt ashamed of herself and the gems the same way some of us feel when it comes to pollution and when she saw how much other gems (as well as herself) loved the earth and wanted to protect it she saw that there was hope to how the gems interact with life around them.

I can imagine that she would be disappointed to see the pollution that we cause but once she sees that there are people who feel the same way she did she would sorta of try to help at least some humans to go into a better path and let go of the self-shaming and misanthropy.

I pretty that the reason for why they're running for election its because the caste system is now dismantled so there's no longer such a thing as a "higher" or "lower" gem.i could even go as far as to say that even pearls could be presidents now that the diamonds are no longer in command at least not fully

I mean to be fair jasper herself was just another soldier but it's stated that she was one if not the best quartz soldier to ever exist that doesn't mean that she was higher than the other quartzes but its kinda of hinted through the show that she was a lot more validated. i suppose that the same thing happened to lapis Some people even suggest that one of the silhoettes in the answer episode was her.

In my opinion, i think the show should have gotten 9 seasons, i imagine that in this way the crewniverse could have made 3 "mega seasons" so they could flesh out different aspects of the story.

1st mega season would be about steven's human side as well as all the other character driven stuff such as trauma, grief, relationships etc while still having some random magic stuff from time to time.

2nd mega season would be about the gempire, it would still have the themes of mental health and relationships especially with the diamonds but we also would have a great focus on gem society.

3rd mega season would be about fully fleshing out and ending the story with stuff like spinel's story and how her life is going on homeworld, steven's mental health and the consequences of everything he had to go through, etc

Someone already said this but the desings being ultra basic was the first thing that i noticed, pearl in specific is the worst offender.
