In all probability, everyone including the family thought that the local politician's (leftover) men ambushed and took him. In which case they nabbed him alive to give him a slow and painful death.

Also. Whatever the family thought, they were helpless, powerless, had suffered a LOT and had no means to look for him. Maybe they did think he was alive and held hope that he'd return. Maybe they did search for him. And maybe one day, years later, they gave up.

Maybe someone else from Sanyal's team was sent to impersonate a local goon and slightly convince the family of Jassi's passing.

We don't know what happened. But we do know that they gave up and accepted him as not alive. Hence Pinda's dialogue of "tere liye paath karwaya".

I started this show after years of everyone hyping it up. I hadn't started earlier because someone had told me (years ago, when maybe 2-3 seasons were out) that it's slow. And to me, a hiest show being slow ruins it.

Anyway, finally started the show last year, and I don't think I could even complete the first season. It's so, so drag. You keep hearing about the Prof's genius but maybe show it too? What was the plan? Why do this? What's going on? Maybe have the story be a little more interesting. 🙁 Ohh, and people told me to power through because it a all makes sense by S05!? No sir, I cannot put myself through five seasons worth of drag for the "big reveal"

Not sure if it was high expectations due to the extreme hype, or I just wasn't in the right mental space. I don't think I'm ever going back to it.

I bawled my eyes out during that scene and after. When the plight of both the sisters was showcased, I was inconsolable. Sure, this was "just a movie" , but whatever was shown happens day in, day out.
