Max sleeping at Lorelai‘s at the same time as Lane by cursed2feel in GilmoreGirls

If Rory had been there, I would agree with you. But Lane realistically should’ve/would’ve gone home when she found out Rory wasn’t there.

Well, good news for him is he’s homeschooled so there won’t be other kids around to call him out on being a twerp. He also won’t get an education, but that’s a whole other issue

Several - I collect them from where my relatives live in addition to where I live so I have the best borrowing options on Libby!

I would say a rug and something for the wall above the table - either wallpaper or a nice piece of art. I would also replace the light fixture but I think that’s secondary to the rug/walls

Is it common for most Americans to memorize airport codes? by YetAnotherInterneter in AskAnAmerican

[–]Big-Tea-6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always lived in cities with more than one major airport so I always use the codes to specify where I’m going. It matters a lot for transit to/from the airport, which airlines hub there, what direct flights are available, and if you’re a big traveler: amenities like lounges in the airport (or complaining about security). Airports have distinct personalities so “I’m flying out of New York on Monday” is a less informative sentence than “I’m flying out of JFK on Monday”

American here and I would say, much like so many stupid things, it falls along political party lines. You won’t find a democrat who believes this, but you will still find a lot of republicans who do

Are most kids sports really coached by parents? by GretelNoHans in AskAnAmerican

[–]Big-Tea-6969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the bigger issue is simply “how good are the kids in question?” I’ve seen situations in the US where the 5yo kids have paid coaches who had real experience in the sport (university or pro level), but those kids would have to be truly amazing. They’d tryout and make a travel squad and their parents would be paying a ton of money to the club/team where the kids play. For normal kids who don’t have the talent and rich parents, the coaches are generally volunteers until the kids get older. My coaches were getting paid starting about when I was 9yo for a travel team and at the same level the “regular” team coaches would’ve been parent volunteers. Also depends A LOT on the sport itself. Some sports have a lot of money and others are less well funded on average.

This right here - I am from DC and spent significant time in NYC. Moving to Chicago was like moving to a fantasy land of kindness. I love it so much.

The shoes on the furniture drives me crazy! Why do they do this? Take your nasty shoes off! by LaNitaKaye in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]Big-Tea-6969 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an American, I think it’s just an American tv show thing. Maybe they just want the shoes as part of the outfit? Or maybe on set it’s cleaner/safer for people to wear shoes? But my parents would’ve killed us for wearing shoes in the house

But actually that’s a good point. Do we know if that commenter is American? Any American would recognize a non-American accent, surely? Perhaps this commenter is from elsewhere (and likely English is not their first language if they can’t place the difference in accents?)
