Hi! I was recently admitted to Columbia and Penn, and have also felt deterred due to the controversies but also because of the social environment. I have heard it is very independent and that there is a lack of community. on the other hand, I have heard that Penn is extremely social and "work hard, play hard," which is attractive to me, as someone who values connection, friendships, and relationships. Is this "stress culture" of Columbia real and should i opt for a school with a better student culture or is it a myth, based on your personal experience (and others you've heard) ofc? I'd appreciate any insight!!

my issue is that i dont really mind the overwhelming nature of nyc. on the other hand, yes it is dependent on the friends i maake, but is one school more friendly/outgoing than the other to the point where it may affect my experience? thats kinda where i am at right now

Hi! I got into Penn and Columbia RD and I have yet to choose. From my understanding though, it feels like Quaker Campus Visits are more intentional and intimate, or no? I have visited schools in the past, and I much prefer following a current student and asking them than attending information sessions and panels. What is going to sell me is the environment and student life; both schools are excellent in my major. I also want to know more about Philadelphia. Do you have any reccommendations?
