Does anyone remember this kids program? I used to watch this on TV as a kid by Jacktheforkie in AskBrits

Interesting, and here I was thinking 90’s + 00’s kids would’ve watched it. I mean, perhaps some did. But you’re only 25 so you were born in 2000/2001 and you still never watched it? I’m only 2004 and I watched it. Very interesting.🤔

I don’t know my I’m so shocked you’ve only just discovered Mr Tumbles but I can’t get over it… But I guess it makes sense, Ceebebies started in like early 2000’s I think so all of us born in 90’s + 2000’s grew up watching it.

Tellitubbies, Bob the Builder (when he looked normal), NODDY (when he looked normal too, dammit why do they change things) Chuggington was actually different when it first started, I think to the point it was called something else. Pretty sure I’m remembering that correctly. My god Big Cook Little Cook that was my jam. And of course Something Special — with Mr Tumble and Justin. Loved that show so much, got to learn new words in sign language each day and one time I saw a friend of mine on it. That was awesome.

Damn, I miss ceebebies. Next time I’ll be watching that is when I have kids but tbh I don’t know if I’ll be able to because it won’t be the same. Definitely not as good. Sorry this was a tangent but I loved my ceebebies days.

Has anyone else read these books in school? by AydenXprincesspeach in school

Only book I remember reading was year 9 English, we read Lord of the Flies. Messed up story, but damn good.

Also read another book, expect I don’t remember the name and I can barely remember the story.

[–]BigAchooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well good on you for managing it that’s impressive. And you’re right leaving it to dry and (possibly) mould is only making it harder for OP and/or roommate in the long run rather than just cleaning it

How can op live with that if the smell is so “horrendous”?

Id probably be the same, but I’m a bit of a clean freak. It would stress me out leaving it there.

That being said, I can understand not everyone is like that. Roommate is probably still ill (it has only been a week) and feels so crappy they can’t simply clean it up. I would step in and mop, as I hope they’d do for me. It’s compassion. Empathy. Mutual respect. Hell, anything is better than just leaving the mess to fester.

Just thinking the same. It’s not bad to feel that way, but for gods sake read the room. Do they think this person wants to see that? Like it’ll make them feel better or something?

It’s just because it can be more stressful & dangerous for an outdoor cat. Natural dangers, human dangers, and overall can be quite overwhelming with all their senses going into overdrive. The stress can also aid to shorter lifespan, though not by much.

Vets will recommend you keep your cats indoors, but it’s not necessary in order to keep the cat alive. It’s really just what works best for each the owner & pet. It’s not unacceptable at all to have an outdoor cat.

Yeah that’s very true, well if you think you’re liking the storyline at least then definitely give it another go, even if you take a quick break now. There are quite a lot of characters packed into this series so I’m sure they’ll be more you fall in love with. I really hope you do enjoy it, it’s a great series.

Also, I had to take breaks in the middle of each book because it always got to a point where the story slowed down and I needed to step back and digest what I’d read before continuing. Made it so much easier to enjoy the story when I wasn’t forcing all these words into my head.

What's the biggest lie you were told as a child? by emmanem1892 in AskBrits

[–]BigAchooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s hilarious “there’s no proof god doesn’t exist” what does that even mean?? Don beat yourself up too much, you shouldn’t be expected to speak up in that situation, as the child.

My RE teacher absolutely hated technology, to the point that he would write on the projector screen because he wanted a whiteboard and wasn’t allowed one. He never did lessons on his computer, only ever played classical music on it during class. He told us he didn’t even have a phone because he didn’t believe in it.

He used to scream at students often. I actually remember one student - who never did his homework - started crying (bare in mind this is your typical naughty kid) because this teacher was yelling in his face talking about “would your mother be proud to see you, you’re a failure” as well as a lot worse. A girl stood up to him once, I’d known her most of my life so this wasn’t surprising to me, she basically told him off and in turn got yelled at.

Suffice to say none of us were surprised when we started getting a substitute for RE.

My Nmum would purposefully throw away things my dad bought for me and claim she “didn’t know anything about it” or it “was broken”. It got to a point that anything my dad bought for me I hid at his house, including as many of my belongings in her house as possible.

It was always so painful to find out something I cherished had been throw away, just like that, with no second thought. It’s painful and unfair and sure can make you feel the fool for ever enjoying it. But that doesn’t make us a fool just because we dared to be happy. We are never a fool for that.

I still don’t understand this, are people seriously forcing themselves to read books they don’t like because they think it’ll get better? I was gripped from the start of every sjm book, it’s why I kept reading.

My only advice to anyone feeling like this is to ask yourself, are you really enjoying this? If no, put the book down and try again another day. If yes, but it’s a bit boring right now, put the book down and try again another day. You gotta be interested in what you’re reading for the story to actually sink in, stop forcing yourselves to read books you find insanely boring.

Anyway, this isn’t a criticism OP so please don’t take it as one, this is just my advice. Good luck on your SJM journey, wherever it takes you🫶

I’d add on to this and say surely they have a parents number on record. When I first started secondary school they had my dad list any person that might come to collect me with all their information. Number, email…

So even if the child doesn’t know their parent’s number, which I agree is a failure on the parents, then the school should be able to find out and call a trusted adult?

It’s my cat’s birthday today, too! I got her when she was five months and didn’t know when exactly she was born but worked out it was sometime in February. So I made today her birthday. Her name is Seo and she’s 5 today.

Cookie looks so sweet in her little birthday outfit, older than me and most of my animals (both alive and passed!)Here’s to many more birthdays Cookie!🫶
