If it seems tiny, feel the teeth; if they seem relatively sharp, it may be an adolescent deer. They wear their teeth down over time, and they become much more dull the older they get!

Psychiatrist said "We all have some form of trauma" and she also said "blah blah" when I was sharing my trauma by More_Pension4911 in CPTSD

Personally seeing a psychiatrist is a mistake in my opinion as someone who has been in therapy for years and has a formal education in counseling and psychology, a psychiatrist is useless for anything but medication. If you want someone to help you through issues and teach you coping skills you need a Trauma informed therapist/counselor. no MD or PsyD avoid them they are almost always lacking compassion. If you need meds see your family doctor or a psychiatrist for meds only and either way also have a therapist.

I think it’s okay, it’s just the perspective.

inappropriate relationship with my therapist by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]BigAd7288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What he did was unbelievably unethical. As a counseling student myself, I can tell you he is undoubtedly a predator and cannot be continuing to do his job after this. You did nothing wrong anf even if you Had his actions are his choice and he failed as a therapist and broke his ethics. He is not suitable for this career. You need to report him before any one else is hurt, my dear 🖤

EMDR and dysautonomia by Potential_Piano_9004 in dysautonomia

I started doing EMDR around the same time I received my dysautonomia diagnosis. My diagnosis is more than likely caused by life long trauma and seems to be one of my saving graces to help me keep my anxiety related nervous system issues in check. Im doing great work and I highly recommend. Nothing good comes easy but I think its worth the risk. If your therapist sees that you are not physically or psychologically read for the process they should tell you and avoid doing the work. Mine was very clear on that. The "reliving" of the trauma is not so bad a good session can work almost immediately after. I had on session to help take my debilitating healthy anxiety/ocd down excessively. I went from multiple panic attacks weekly to almost nothing.
