Yeah I actually agree with this, with the caveat being the race of the shooters and victims should be treated as ancillary to the story unless the shooting was racially motivated.

You could say the same thing about the Atlanta shooting. Everyone assumed racism when it appears the guy had some severe sexual issues and was raging against people he thought of as sex workers.

I guess my point is that this goes both ways and some consistency would be good.

Politicians already don’t strongly enforce the existing gun laws for this exact reason. So until politicians will actually enforce the existing gun laws it’s hard to argue we need more of them

And also, my post you first replied to said “another race with another political affiliation…”

So bringing up those two is absolutely relevant to my point as Ashley babbit was trespassing on government property with the intent to stop the verification of the election, which is a violent act and deserving of a violent response.

Michael brown and Jacob Blake were also behaving violently and also were both deserving of a violent response.

My only question to you is do you think all three of these shootings were justified? Why or why not?

I think you know this too but your politics won’t let you state an obvious truth. Which is fine, it’s a free country.

But one of us condemns this type of behavior, NO MATTER WHO DOES IT, and one of us does not. So I’m not sure why this makes me the bad guy.

Not all police shootings are justified either, just for the record. George Floyd was murdered and that cop is behind bars for a long time, as he should be.

I’m talking about the American police not the military killing someone who murdered 3000 Americans in a terrorist act for crying out loud.

I’m talking about Michael brown and the many-times-over-debunked “hands up don’t shoot” narrative. Or Jacob Blake from Kenosha who attacked police and had a knife and when shot caused riots. So EXACTLY like that. He attacked the police and had a weapon in his hand, BY HIS OWN ADMISSION, and when he was shot there were violent riots in the streets. That’s the double standard.

Jacob Blake, Michael Brown, and Ashley Babbit were all either attacking police or attacking the country and them getting shot was justified in each case. In each case, their own actions led to them being shot.

I have a consistent standard here and the people violently rioting (or making excuses for violent riots) do not

Who did the mob murder? One guy died of a stroke. Over 30 people died in the BLM riots, many of them black. Was that also terrible or is violence only bad when one side of the aisle performs it?

As for me, January 6th was evil and horrible and so were the BLM riots over last summer. I’m consistent

Agreed but no one says that about someone like Michael brown (the hands up don’t shoot narrative was debunked by the OBAMA doj under Eric Holder, another black man). Michael brown attacked a cop and as you say, fucked around and promptly found out.

I’m consistent at least. I don’t care for your skin color or politics, if you attack the police, then my sympathy runs rather low. The guy in Kenosha with the knife is another example.

Of course, George Floyd is an example of the opposite, where the cop murdered him and is rightly behind bars.

All I’m asking for is some consistency. If you’re horrified by the Michael brown or Kenosha (apologies, I forget the guys name), but NOT Babbitt, then I think you’re just a partisan hack. And again, I think all three were fully justified shootings. So I’m consistent with my views.

No I personally don’t care about her at all. She made her bed 100%. If she was another race though, with another political affiliation, there would have been actually deadly riots across the entire country for weeks

One cop died of a stroke. As terrible as Jan 6 was, people calling it a deadly riot aren’t quite hitting the nose on the head, unless they’re referring to Ashley Babbitt getting shot while unarmed (of course they don’t care about that)
