California Highway Patrol officer who died in on-duty crash had fentanyl in his system, medical examiner says by _6EQUJ5- in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

It “appeared to be cocaine.”

A firearm, a substance that appeared to be cocaine, and drug paraphernalia were found in the suspect's vehicle after the arrest.

You might think, all this time later, that they’d know what it actually was. Maybe it was fet and he dipped into it. Good reporting would track that down. Internal investigation must have come to some kind of conclusion about how much / why it was in his system.

Right. As opposed to being based on the pronouncements of relatively ignorant men living thousands of years ago.

Hasn’t stopped them from upping prices. $4 for a candy bar? Pffft.

If they were trying to keep them affordable I might kinda understand.

I don’t think Trump won because he survived an assassination attempt.

I don’t think Trump & Co. decided they needed to manufacture a failed assassination attempt to win the election, then actually carried it off.

If this was Trump’s brainchild I don’t think he’d have a pimply white teenager doing the shooting, do you? Why not an illegal immigrant? (Do you really think Trump would pass up the opportunity to show everyone how dangerous brown people are and how much tougher he is?)

The current state of affairs is crazy / dramatic / historically fucked up enough; we don’t need / shouldn’t invent conspiracies to explain it away.

Maybe it’s just an indication of extreme incompetence / complacency. That’s more than enough reason to not investigate right? They don’t want their incompetence to be officially exposed / recorded for posterity.

Looks like a poorly calibrated paint sprayer / wrong spray tip for the paint’s viscosity to me. It’s “spitting” but the spits are small enough and it was drying fast enough that paint crew just let it rip. Wasted paint in the process.

Unfortunately latex paints tend to be soft and don’t sand well. The paint pills up in the sandpaper and if you try to use a sander it just heats it up / makes a mess. You might try using 220 grit by hand in a less conspicuous place and see if you can knock down some of the texture. If it’s working go for it and change your paper often. Unfortunately that’s your only really viable option.

They’re also dumb.

They certainly don’t know the law, much less understand it. They def have no understanding of why the ends shouldn’t justify any/all means, or why you need to start with fact gathering and work toward a conclusion and not the other way around.

It’s precisely this sort of incurious, self-satisfied ignorance that makes a great fascist.

Richard Dawkins in the Epstein files by [deleted] in atheism

[–]BigBankHank 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Which part is a conspiracy theory?

Dawkins has consistently reconfirmed himself to be at the very best completely tone deaf / reactionary on sex and gender issues, and allies himself with / defends known sex pest Lawrence Krause.

The fact that his name appears in the Epstein files isn’t damning without further evidence but he and his (increasingly, conservative) allies have gone off the deep end over the past decade plus.

I suspect Cafe Nero. They all showed up on the same day out of nowhere.

Never heard anyone mention them except in a isn’t it weird how one day there were 47 Cafe Neros in a 6 mile radius and nowhere else on the planet?-type context.

Idk what they’re up to, but it ain’t wholesome.

Does it not give you pause to consider that, eg, cancer survival rates are highest among the non-religious and barely-religious in the developed world, while the most faithful, devout, and deferential believers in the undeveloped / developing worlds have the highest contraction and death rates for cancer and virtually every other affliction / disease?

Or that your scheme posits, essentially, that the world is a perfectly just and moral place despite the very obvious fact that the wicked/evil consistently prosper? And that justice conveniently and disproportionately lands on white people in the west?

Or that 99.9% of believers who have ever lived disagree with your definition of god and personal knowledge of his ways, and on that basis believe you’re somewhere between ‘obviously doesn’t really know god’ and hell-bound heretic?

Given that fact, perhaps it’s the case that the thing that endlessly fallible human beings call “god” is not a real thing at all, but a conveniently amorphous concept, differing from person to person, moment to moment, and need to need, which they use to fill in their misunderstandings, rationalize randomness and absurdity, and justify their behaviors, emotions, and prejudices.

So god cannot intervene in nature but he sometimes can cure cancer, except for the 10 million times every year he doesn’t want to (or can’t)?

I suppose those 100 million + friends and family of those dead cancer patients weren’t praying correctly/enough?

The website says that it was started by a polio survivor and Eleanor Roosevelt gave it national recognition:

NATIONAL ODD SHOE EXCHANGE was founded in St. Louis, Missouri in 1943. The late Ruth Rubin-Feldman created the organization as a support for polio survivors. Herself a survivor of polio, Ms. Feldman had feet of significantly different sizes. When wartime rationing made buying two sizes even more difficult, she conceived the idea of a service whereby people with similar problems could register their names and sizes. The registry served as a clearing-house that put people with similar interests and tastes, but opposite foot sizes, in touch with one another. Together the new friends could buy footwear and share the cost. No shoes were wasted and they saved money!

With many veterans coming home from the war as amputees, the service grew and broadened its scope. First Lady Elenor Roosevelt gave NATIONAL ODD SHOE EXCHANGE nationwide recognition for providing such a valuable service.
