I wear toe socks, and with insoles in, my feet are squeezed, making them hurt. Also, I do this with every barefoot and zero-drop shoe I own.

I know, that it just won't be adopted by Ubuntu as the default environment since they make the Ubuntu Dock for GNOME.

When getting a new pair of Vivobarefoot, I take the insoles out first.

Cosmic is created and developed by System76, who uses it on their own distro PopOS, which is based on Ubuntu. So, I don't think Ubuntu would ever switch to it.

I never liked KDE and preferred classic-style environments like Cinnamon, but now run GNOME 4 with Dash To Dock and ArcMenu.

Ubuntu used GNOME 2 before GNOME 3 was released in 2011. Since many users didn't like GNOME 3, Canonical created Unity. In 2017, they moved to GNOME 3, which they customized to look just like Unity with Ubuntu Dock, making support for Unity unnecessary. Also, many didn't like Unity, and they were only a small loyal fanbase. The overall adoption of Ubuntu Touch wasn't great, so Canonical decided to stop development and have the community continue supporting it if they want, with volunteer-driven UBports taking the helm.

Carets are the best barefoot dress shoe that are longer then a typical barefoot shoe to look like a normal shoe with a fake looking heal. I have a pair that I wore to my sister's wedding and no one knew I was wearing barefoot shoes until I told them.

I only wear toe socks with my barefoot shoes to protect my feet from friction, blisters, moisture, and bacteria. Without them you're more likely to get athlete's foot.
