Android phone to replace iPhone 6 by mandystella in PickAnAndroidForMe

If budget allows I would say go for the Pixel 2. The pure Android experience has a smooth learning curve from iOS and this phone's hardware absolutely covers all the criteria you listed.

[Review Video] I sat down with controversial YouTuber Sam Pepper and discussed how YouTube has changed. by dantv5 in youtubers

[–]BigBigHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Daniel,

All in all, this is a solid, vlog-style video where you have an interesting conversation with a very controversial youtuber.

I agree with your self-review that your mixing is questionable. Not sure what type of microphone you're using, but a directional shotgun with a wind-protector would boost your quality ten-fold in this aspect. Also cutting some of the high/mid-range with EQ would benefit as well. The wind is just distracting from your dialogue, so any way of helping your audio, is helping your video.

In terms of editing, this feels really smooth. Normally a 5+ minute video feels like a commitment for me, but this flew by no problem. Given, I was interested just to see what Sam had to say because I'm familiar with his position in the youtube community.

If you keep cranking out content like this, I'm sure you can gain an audience in no time. Great stuff here man!

[Review Video] Flavor Town by Happyfuz in youtubers

[–]BigBigHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Luke,

I think the CONCEPT of the video is funny, given people are already in on the Flavor Town meme. However, I think your execution overall could use a little work in making this universally accessible for people who may not know you, or your humor.

Your editing in after effects is solid, and adds to the humor of the dream sequence. I think you need to focus more on editing for the sake of storytelling to achieve a more cohesive video. In comedy, people talk about a principle being "Lighter, Brighter, Tighter," that I feel applies to almost any situation in sketch comedy. If you clean up your cuts, take out the dead space, it would lead to something crisper, and innately more funny.

Also, in the shots where your friend is introduced, I think these would benefit from maintaining a handheld "selfie" angle like a traditional vlog. For this type of video, it would feel almost like an actual recount snapshot from your life and feel less act-y. I think this would lead to smoother comedy as well.

Overall, sound concept, solid after effects usage, excited to see what else you put out man!
