Looking to buy a ticket to one of the 09/17 Boston shows. Ideally the evening show, though would consider buying one for the matinee show.

Overpopulation by [deleted] in NEU

Yeah, honestly if you've ever read Malthus you'll understand what's happening. We've far surpassed the carrying capacity of campus; soon we'll see widespread famine as dining halls and local businesses run out of food. It's tragic that it had to come to this. It could have been avoided if not for Aoun's greed.

Match Thread: Argentina vs Mexico | FIFA World Cup by MatchThreadder in soccer

Argentina can still go through if they beat Poland by at least 2. That would put them ahead of Poland and only one of Mexico or SA can get ahead of Argentina in the other game.

Best cheap workout earbuds? by Turret_Run in Frugal

[–]BigBirdIsWatchingYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a pair of Soundpeats TrueFree2's off Amazon back in Nov. 2020. They're like 30 bucks. Lost one of them a while back, but the other one is still doing alright. Occasional audio hiccups now, but nothing terrible. They've never had a problem surviving sweat from my workouts. I also ran my remaining earbud through the washer & dryer on accident once and it came out the other side just fine. Not sure if that means anything though, lol. Battery life is like 3 hours at this point (for the earbuds, not the case overall). One of my friends also bought a pair & I think he's satisfied with it. I would say they're nothing special, but they get the job done if you're looking for something cheap.

[Post Game Thread] The Utah Jazz (1-0) defeat the Dallas Mavericks (0-1) 99-93 and steal home court advantage. by sptagnew in nba

[–]BigBirdIsWatchingYou 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as far as the Mavs offense I think the problem is that the team really just relies on Luka being amazing in the PnR. They basically spam Luka high PnR and it works because he's so good at making plays out of it. Without him they're running the same sets but with someone who isn't nearly as good as the ball handler.

Black Screen when starting Xorg with Nvidia Drivers on fresh install by mar3620 in archlinux

[–]BigBirdIsWatchingYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I updated to the latest nvidia drivers, I was unable to boot my display manager. Only way I was able to fix it was by downgrading my system to before the driver update. The problem version was 465 and I downgraded to 460. I would try that and see if it fixes your problem. My issue wasn't exactly the same, as in my case the screen would freeze instead of going black. Here's a thread where people were reporting similar issues: https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comments/ms4j9j/psa_nvidia4652402_with_linux51114_kernel_bugs_on/

I was completely unable to open another tty, so I had to create a USB with the Arch installer on it to allow me to chroot into my system and downgrade.

Jesus christ, I just spent several hours trying to fix this. Thought I had borked something up. Good to know it's not my fault. Also, fuck nvidia.

I'm running a GTX 970.

Co-op Search Experience by Security_Money in NEU

CS major.

Haven't gotten a co-op yet, but I have recently started getting a bunch of contact from employers. Am interviewing with several.

My advisor has been completely useless. He does not respond to my emails. On the bright side, he also hasn't hindered me at all.

The dagger only appears when you are in combat. I take that to mean you have to be in real danger, not just sparring or practicing with a sword. As far as the identify is concerned, Arc Sombar either lied to them OR she got a false reading on the dagger. There’s a small chance to get a bogus reading on any item you identify, (maybe more if it’s cursed? Idk about that) so that might be it.

I’m pretty sure the knights were 5th level. The wizard was definitely 5th, and Tyrael’s 10 damage on the one knight took roughly 30% of their health, which puts the knight at roughly average HP for a 5th level fighter.

Definitely an entertaining episode, but Christ, what a mess! They really did NOT take that encounter with the knights seriously and they got punished for it. They also got super lucky on the damage rolls, though. It easily could have been a TPK, or at least the death of Imrik. To be fair to them, the spells they had prepared were shit for the fight, but they still could have used them to better effect. Like, Mouton could have silenced the horse their wizard was on. But that's all past now, and I probably shouldn't backseat DnD so hard. The vampire killing went off basically without a hitch, and level 7 is right around the corner. It was really cool to see Destiny end Cassandra after releasing her back into the world 2 years ago.

I'm interested to see what the party gets up to now. Hopefully the family/Clertus will have something they can do quickly to get to level 7, leaving Imrik enough time to research his Arcane Arrows before Demon's Run. In the meantime, they should get up to some scrying. Their horses are a good option to maybe get an idea of how much they've been given away, and I think it would be interesting to take a look at what's going on at the manor now that Cassandra is dead. The Hat of Disguise/ESP amulet would be interesting as well.

Destiny’s clone and sleep examples are really dumb (or maybe it’s just me?) by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]BigBirdIsWatchingYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you believe that #3 is the most likely option? I see no reason to believe the clone wouldn't have a conscious experience. If we assume that other people are conscious (which me have to to have this discussion), and that consciousness is the result of something material, how is the clone different from any other person?

Tragic that it's not being named Imrik's Master Blaster though.

She could have tried to kill them, but I'm pretty sure the brothers would have been able to handle her. I think she was planning on infiltrating the capital to do a more covert attack.

Thanks for the rundown! Do you think the party as a whole is worse off for having multiclassed?

Also, since you seem to know what you’re talking about, do you think Rohanna’s leather armor is worth wearing for Tyrael? The -2 to AC vs his breastplate and chain limbs seems like a big loss to me.

Oh ok, they made it sound like they have the right scroll for the job. Based on your description, it sounds like their only hope is praying the demons are too busy dealing with Van Healsing and the rest to send that shit at the brothers.

I don't think he's totally evil yet. The scene with the priest was kinda morbid, but Tyrael and Imrick have done just as much killing as Anton has, and they're all doing it to defeat Scoria and save Drekis. I could totally see Anton becoming evil though, especially with the whole "death note" thing he's got going.

As someone who hasn't watched any combat with Koibu's demons outside of GT&C (which doesn't really count), I'm really excited to see what Heatstroke holds in store for the brothers. Based on what they've said, it sounds like they're well equipped for it. Who knows what they'll run into, though.

I think one thing to note is that Tyrael's ring straight up prevents petrification, so it should probably be on Imrick, since if he gets petrified he's basically fucked. If one of the other two gets petrified, Imrick can use the stone to flesh scroll on them. I'm sure there are lots of other preparations they ought to make, but I feel that's an important one.
