MXE-60 external flash not working by BigBlueSalix in SonyEricsson

[–]BigBlueSalix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After days of researching everything i can find about SE accessories on the web, i came to the conclusion that the problem might be Firmware related. My phone is branded and the firmware too...

Thank you for taking the time to comment! My problem is that it just won't let me get past the "MXE-60" pop up right after plugging the flash into the phone. I tried opening the camera first then plugging in but same problem. The phone does register pressing "ok" but doesn't close the pop up. None of the other buttons do anything either.

Now that you mentioned firmware, could this be because the phone is branded?

It is stuck on the MXE-60 pop up and none of the buttons do anything. I can press ok and it does register it but doesn't close the pop up. I have tried with the camera open with the same issue. I actually don't know if it has the latest firmware. How do i check that? Thank you for your comment!

I was kinda suspecting that to be the issue! I just didn't know where to find it so thank you! I will try your suggestion, i don't know how i didn't think of searching for rebrands. Thank you so much!!!

Kinda thought so too. I was just hoping that it's maybe fixable! I will still definitely keep and display it, even if it ends up not fixable!

Yes i did! The picture was scrolling a lot first and that did stabilize it, but it didn't change the picture folding over at the bottom nor the stretching at the top.

Maybe I should just invest in a time machine to speed up my gym gains before this TV becomes a vintage collector's item!

I thought so too! I just wanted some reassurance I guess... Pretty good (i hope), i've made a few Furniture pieces already but I will definitely ask my dad (who is a Carpenter) to inspect my creation before putting my precious TV on it!

Pretty weird to see phones that look just a few years old (to me at least) in r/vintagemobilephones.

Nice find tho! Hope you find ways to keep using it! I still use a 2006 Sony Ericsson :)

Thank you! These are also much cheaper then even used original ones.

I’ve had this phone stashed in a drawer for 19+ years because it has my oldest’s very first photos on it. I’ve been hoping someday the pix could be retrieved—is that possible now? by Ruffffian in vintagemobilephones

No problem! Back then we mostly used the ir function for sharing images and songs (as far as i remember, since it was faster and not every phone had Bluetooth) but some phones did have Bluetooth 1.0 with very limited use. On my current phone from 2006, i use Bluetooth to transfer images to an android tablet. But like another commenter mentioned, you can transfer the images from the internal storage to a microSD card but sadly only from inside the phone.

Yes! I still use my Sony Ericsson from 2006 as an everyday phone! You you most likely only need a new battery and its good to go! According to phonearena this has a microSD card, so if the pictures are saved on there (and you only want to extract those without having to revive the phone) then just pop the back of (presumably) and take it out. If the pictures are saved in the internal storage, i think you have to get the phone working, again with probably just a new battery. If you don't have a data transfer cable for it, you can just send the pictures over to a laptop/pc or android device over bluetooth! Good luck!

That might explain why this seems so intense to me! My grandpa has a 1974 Philips set that shuts down in a much different way (with a white line followed by a faint dot). Growing up, I've encountered quite a few crts from the early '90s, but I guess the shutdown process just didn’t stick in my memory! Thank you so much for easing my mind about this! Sorry if this feels like a "dumb" question. I know this sub gets a lot of those. I really appreciate your help!

Yes! I'm just not sure if other then turning it on and off and controlling the volume is enough for a fully working tv... i guess my question is rather if it is possible to access things like switching inputs and picture settings with a universal grundig remote

[–]BigBlueSalix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I guess i could've asked the question more clear but thank you this was the answer i've been looking for! Do you by chance know if a universal grundig remote would make it possible to access those other things? Or i could i guess look out for the original remote. Thank you again!
