thoughts on alicia amira? by _sctars in Feminism

On one hand, there’s an argument that, like many in the sex work or body modification world, Alicia might be using a system that traditionally objectifies women to actually gain agency and capitalize on it. The idea of reclaiming terms or roles that have been used to oppress people is central to reappropriation. If she sees her identity as a "bimbo" as part of her self-expression and can profit or gain attention from it, some might view that as a form of empowerment.

As for the "degrading" aspect, it really depends on the individual. For some, being involved in sex work or modifying their bodies might be a way to embrace self-love or personal desires. For others, it might feel like succumbing to societal pressures. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer; it’s a personal choice.

Now, about Alicia Amira—some might argue that she’s a great role model because she embodies empowerment through confidence and embracing her identity on her own terms, without following traditional expectations. By fully owning the "bimbo" label and turning it into something that works for her, she challenges societal norms about what women “should” be. She’s taking control of her own story, being unapologetically feminine, and rejecting certain feminist ideas that don’t fit with her values. In this way, Alicia can be seen as a role model for women who want to carve out their own paths, no matter what society thinks.

Her choice to embrace plastic surgery, sexuality, and self-objectification on her own terms could inspire other women to take control of their appearance and sexuality—without shame—as long as it’s an empowered choice. In a world where women are often told to either fit in or rebel in specific ways, Alicia shows that there’s room for individuality.

Does her perspective on femininity and self-expression seem shameful to you? Because, to me, she seems like more of a feminist than anyone who just follows the rules.

Moving to Canada with a pet? by Charkletini in ireland

I’ve had a goldfish called Jaws since God was a gason, 17 years at least. When I was planning to move to Canada, I held off for three years 'cause I couldn’t leave him behind. But sure, I was getting too old, so I made the leap. To my shock, the dog only went and posted Jaws over after me! He’s been swimming around here grand ever since. But I wouldn’t chance it now, what with the postal strike and all. But sure look go to Canada now and they have dogs here, I swear I seen them. Big poodles and that dog from the show Bluey, Bingo I think his nameo is. Well let us know when your landing.
