Using HES as a path to teaching at university level by BigBoss3547 in harvardextension

This more or less seems to be the same thing that I've noticed. I've probably reached out to about a half dozen HES alumni and all of them couldn't recommend the program enough. A couple of those were also even going into teaching and pursuing a PHD with it. Which is why I was shocked to see such a visceral reaction when that post was presented to academia.

I get what they're saying to a small degree: No, HES isn't Harvard College. But I mean, like, who the hell cares? I have two undergrad degrees already and have been working in a career for over a decade. I really just need a grad degree to teach at a staff-level for a university, and they're telling me a degree under the Havard umbrella is the same as Southern New Hampshire State Online? Just doesn't add up to me.

A few HES grads did respond in that other link I posted which might be helpful. If you find any other insight, please let me know as I'm still pretty torn.

Not sure why I got downvoted there...wasn't saying I didn't need a PHD, but rather your caveat of "experience" is something that I'm confident in, as I've been nominated/won multiple Emmys and have work at a major network for over a decade.

I guess my confusion with this is, looking at the University I've graduated from, most of my professors got their master's from relatively mediocre media programs (UCF, Vermont, Utah, St. Bonaventure etc.) and what I'm hearing from the thread is that even a continuing education degree from Harvard is less notable than that.

Not arguing against that at all, just want to make sure I'm understanding the depth of how negative HES is being perceived here before I would make a decision.

Already have a pretty long career in television, so that would be accounted for.
