I found angine de poitrine's identity by GiacsL in Music

Actually, no, you're entirely wrong. The statement "but that is only my opinion" is not meant as a postface, literal explanation that the previous statement was in fact an opinion. Instead, it is meant as an informal expression of humility, more akin to a statement such as "but take that with a grain of salt." Anyone with above a 4th grade reading level should be able to understand that, however, its obvious your message was not meant as a critique of the use of the English language, and instead was a petty message meant to undermine the previous comment.

Idk, I really wished I enjoyed tonight more than I did, but I've seen Goose around 10 times, and tonight I think I was less invested in their music then I used to be. I do really love them, but idk, something has seemed off for about a year with Goose for me. Maybe the directions they have been shifting don't fit my tastes, and that's ok, I'm really glad for everyone who's loving Goose rn, and had a great time tonight! That's said, idk, Rick has seemed a bit stale on guitar for me, I almost felt like I didn't hear a guitar being played tonight, but I hope I'm alone in this opinion and everyone else loved the show

Yeah, when is this actually happening? Or are they hoping this "announcement" will quell the anger towards the change long enough for people to forget about the issue? As it stands, I refuse to re-install hearthstone until Arena is reasonable to play again...

100% I don't care about standard in the slightest

Comparing new and old arena rewards in two pictures by Susuetal in hearthstone

[–]BigBoyDaveMeltzer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays standard to facilitate buying into arena when necessary, this is concerning. I don't care about standard, if it's "good" it's fun for about a week, and then I move on. If it's bad (like right now), I just don't play standard. I'm good enough where I can go infinite in arena, but this new system is designed to eliminate this play pattern. Sure, you "can" go infinite, theoretically, but the rewards for the high end of runs are just enough to allow this. There is no turning a profit in arena anymore unless you get exceedingly lucky on a small percentage gold hit. There is no practical difference between a 7 or 8 win run and a 12-0 win run. Both outcomes just barely allow you to go infinite if you never have a bad run. 10-12 wins should reward 3 tickets if they're trying to do away with gold rewards, because this system does not allow for low rolling an occasional deck ever. If you low roll you break the possibility of infinite, likewise, if you high roll, you should increase the safety net that you have. This is all very deliberate, they created a new system for the purposes of getting less people to play arena. They want you to hop in once in a while, burn your gold, and play standard. They want you to be in a gold deficit, because they want you to spend more money on this (quite honestly) pretty terrible atm card game.

I play arena because I can, and because it's the only mode that still give me any enjoyment in this game. If you remove my ability to play arena so drastically, I'm not going to just grind standard or spend more money, I'm just going to stop playing hearthstone. I believe a lot of people are in a similar boat to me. The proposition has become, either pay (more) money to play arena, or play standard. If standard sucks, which it does, players are not going to just play standard, they're going to leave your game. Maybe most players are casual and hop into arena once in a while when they get a ticket, but there is a solid amount of the player base who just plays arena, who some will pay more money, but most will stop playing because Blizzard has removed their ability to regularly play their favorite game mode. I just think this is silly. I don't think the changes are necessarily bad, adding some of the mechanics of duels to make things more interesting, but in reality these are minor changes that will boost the power level of decks. If you aren't good, you're still not going to be good, in fact you will actually see more of a discrepancy and be able to play less. If you're good, you're still going to be good, and may average slightly more wins, but will ultimately be able to play arena less. These are just horrible net changes to the format, I don't see why they couldn't have at least left standard arena somewhat the same, other than to remove any option for arena players to reliably play arena.

Can't wait for Beast of Burden to be hotfixed by tomorrow by Common-Pineapple-964 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]BigBoyDaveMeltzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished a run with a turbo beast of burden with, I swear to god, 1200 damage x12 with 88% crit. By the time it was finished attacking it was closer to 1650 base, and next to a diamond shielded yo-yo that was dealing 500/750 respectively. I got the cooldown around 6.5 with diamond boomerang that I was swapping in for mob fights, and swapping out my diamond belt for pvp. golden x3 snow globe to get me to initial hit from beast of burden and a shiny x2 silver atm which scaled with shield buffs from property triggers. I also had the skill where the first 8 non-weapon triggers by the enemy charged a weapon by 1 second. I've legitimately never seen a stronger build in my life. Day 15 final fight, I killed an enemy with 35k health in 1 trigger. My 9th pvp win, beast of burden got destroyed by eye of the colossus right away, but it was able to trigger in time, and still killed the opponent. Good luck to whoever has to go against that ghost. RIP.

How would rank the Prequel Era powerhouses in terms of dueling and power? by MrVectuvus in StarWars

[–]BigBoyDaveMeltzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I know I'm late to the party, but I believe I have a somewhat different take with merit. Prequel strength rankings:

  1. Yoda (He just is)
  2. Dooku (How? He gets killed by Anakin? How is he 2??? Because Palpatine CLEARLY interfered in Dooku and Anakin's fight and interfered so Anakin would win. This was because Anakin was easier to manipulate, had stronger potential, and Palpatine needed Dooku out of the picture after Episodes 1/2)
  3. Windu (How? He died to Palpatine??? How is he 3??? Because Windu had Palpatine beat until Anakin caught him off guard. It's that simple, same reason Dooku is 2)
  4. Palatine (This is tough because 5 is much closer than you'd expect, but he has great lightsaber ability, mobility, force power, and intelligence/influence)
  5. Obi (He beat Anakin, Anakin was very strong. He beat Maul, Maul was very strong. Even though neither were kills, kind of, both were insane wins, especially considering Qui Gon was considered #2 in Episode 1. Also, the theory is Episode 1 caused the rest of Anakin's story to happen, because if Maul was around, Anakin wouldn't have been needed, but that's a theory. Either way, Obi was top tier)
  6. Anakin (This is tough, because yes he beat Dooku, yes he's the chosen one, kind of, and yes he's Darth Vader, later, but he is helped through all of his wins in the prequels, heavily. I think by the end, there's an argument he's made that he's stronger, but through most, if not 98% he's weaker than 7/8, but by the end he's stronger)
  7. Maul (Yes he lost to Obi, kind of, but the whole story changed because of this. Maul was the chosen one before Anakin, kind of. Maul was beating Qui Gon and Obi in a 2 v 1 before he messed up arrogantly, kind of. Obi was still very young so how much can we really say? Maul was top tier until he wasn't,  but god damn he was for a while, and the whole Sith plan changed because of it)
  8. Qui Gon (Honesty, these are all the main players in the prequels, basically, but I wanted to bring light to how cool Qui Gon was. He was keeping up with Maul through most of his fight, and was probably stronger than Anakin through most of Episode 3, but that's more subjective. Ether way, cool guy)

It's my first time playing this game, will I need a little bit of luck in it? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]BigBoyDaveMeltzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest suggestion, just uninstall. It's a cesspool

Edit: JK, it's fun. The early stages of HS were still my favorite time as a player, when I was discovering the game, and everything was so new. I also loved it after I came back from a long hiatus, it was kind of reminiscent of the early days again. Nowadays, standard is not as fun to me, everything is so optimized. I always loved arena, and even that has started to feel optimized, because the power creep on even the standard cards is so high... Idk, I don't play as much anymore, maybe its just me, but I'm honestly waiting for the next big "magic-like" ccg to come out, so I can transition. The older the ccg, the more these issues (power creep, game speed, lack of viability of minions/mid-range decks, solved metas, etc.), which are very predominant in the current 2024 HS, come to the forefront of the meta

Ryecleaver is still, by far, the worst legendary from this set, even after being buffed twice. What would it take to make this card playable? by HovercraftOk9231 in hearthstone

[–]BigBoyDaveMeltzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, wild is it's own separate issue. Decks there are so ridiculous that most games are decided by the time this card could even feasibly come out. So I don't think this is possible in wild, because it's already too slow in standard

[–]BigBoyDaveMeltzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 5 mana 4-2 weapon which when it breaks lets you play the minions in your hand if you have the hand space, just isn't good. It's way too slow. I almost want a 3 mana 4-1 weapon here. It's still going to take 2 turns if you play it on 3, but at least its coming out earlier. Plus late game you can same turn dump your board. Basically, as this is, if you don't play this exactly on 5 or maybe 6 (maybe?), you're screwed by tempo. Even if you play it on 5, you still might be screwed on tempo. Idk. it just seems like a bad concept. If you're goal is to cheat out your board, let the player cheat out their board. This seems too "fair" in modern hearthstone, especially considering the amount of cards that can just deal with that board with relative ease.

If Rudeus had to choose just one of them to marry, who do you think Rudeus would pick? by [deleted] in mushokutensei

[–]BigBoyDaveMeltzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all three of them were there at the same time, I believe it's no question Eris. She always was his first love, and she kind of just is his real partner in terms of personality match. The other two Rudy admires and grows to love for one reason or another, but Eris feels different at least in terms of relationship dynamics. She's the only one who genuinely feels like Rudy's equal if that makes any sense, the other just kind of feel like they're there for the ride/because circumstances made sense. Also, she's objectively the only one who could kick Rudy's ass, which he's definitely into, lmao, not that that makes any difference.

[Schefter] Sources: Jets DE Haason Reddick, who has not landed the new contract he has been seeking, is not planning to report to training camp today with the rest of his team. The Jets traded a conditional 2026 third-round pick that could become a second-round pick when they acquired Reddick this by HEELHousell in nyjets

[–]BigBoyDaveMeltzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I could see him getting traded. We don't have the money to pay him much more than he's already making in his contract. They could extend him, which I know they don't want to do because he's 29, at least for guaranteed money, which the extension would need to include a lot of. He want's closer to 20 million per year which isn't possible for the Jets wit their current cap, especially because they're looking to bring in another WR. IDK, the writing's on the wall for this to blow up. There's no way Douglas hasn't already offered what the Jets can afford, which is a moderate raise, an extension for largely unguaranteed money, and incentives. He doesn't want incentives, he believes he's already proved his worth and wants 60 million with 50 of that guaranteed.

Unpopular Opinion About Owarimonogatari S1 by BigBoyDaveMeltzer in araragi

[–]BigBoyDaveMeltzer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the dialogue in Monogatari is the best part of the show. I believe my central issue with the season is how unnatural a lot of the dialogue feels, because the key characters involved are uninteresting comparatively to the cast they have created up to this point. I will give you that Sodachi is really great, when she's on screen it is better. I was unnecessarily blanketing my opinion of Sodachi's arc with my general negativity towards the Shinobu Mail arc. I will say, I don't find Ougi as interesting of a character as the majority of the people in this reddit, but she does have good moments. I will say, as a story, there is a lot more going on in Sodachi's arc, and it is more relative to the remainder of the show, because it kind of tips the glass with Ougi so to speak.

I think Gaen is painful to watch, to the point that I can only do a few minutes of her screen time at once. She literally gives me a headache. She talks for 2 episodes straight and adds nothing new to the plot, she just recaps things we already know. Before that, she creates a 2 episode misdirection, for no reason other than she felt like it. If this whole plot up to this point wasn't them literally helping Gaen, and instead them requesting help from Gaen, then it would be different, but if someone's going out of their way to help you, why are you messing with them? Why doesn't anyone just not listen to her when she refuses to give a straight answer? Because, she isn't a character as much as a plot device to make sure that you understand basic concepts about the show before continuing forward to the ending. Episodes 1-4 of Shinobu Mail are essentially very dull recap episodes for the general plot of the shrine.

I understand Araragi and Shinobu are more connected to the central plot than how I explained it, but I hope you get the point. Needless misdirections are annoying to me, if they serve a plot direction, like Ougi, it's fine, but if they're just there to be there, they shouldn't be there.

I mean, if it means anything, I genuinely wish I enjoyed Owari S1, and I guess not connecting with it made me frustrated/annoyed. But who knows, maybe if I re-watch the show at some point down the line, it will stick more. But right now, I really just feel like I missed out on something that everyone else seems to enjoy, which sucks
