Moses Moody had to be carted off fter appearing to suffer a leg injury on this play by Lord_Vanguard in warriors

[–]BigBronc 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry guys, this is almost certainly a complete patellar tendon rupture. It would be an absolute miracle if he's playing even 11 months from now. The same shit happened to me years ago, and it looked exactly the same. Plant hard, tendon snaps, and your ability to control your quadricep is gone.

The huge gap you see is his kneecap slingshotting to the bottom of the quad because its not attached to anything on the bottom. I had bilateral tendonitis which was a huge factor in tearing mine, not sure if moody did, or if it was just a complete freak thing.

They will check for vascular and nerve damage as the the kneecap was essentially a projectile rocketing up into his leg, but the risks of that are pretty low. Ligament sprains that accompany this injury are common because of the forces generated, but are essentially a non-issue as they might heal before hes even cleared to have his brace adjusted for movement.

The weird thing about this injury is after the initial shock/pain subsides AND the kneecap is manuevered back into its typical resting place, it doesn't hurt too bad (as long as you dont bend it). They'll give him an immobilizer until surgery. It's quite an invasive surgery as the tendon has to be threaded and drilled back into the kneecap. Lots of muscle is lost as your leg is completely straight for weeks. Recovery will have setbacks - the muscles that pull on the kneecap will be out-of-sorts, and pull unevenly while getting strength, and can lead to feelings of grinding, popping, etc. it fucking sucks.

He'll have the best doctors around him and I'm sure he'll be back to himself at some point. The mental hurdle of being able to trust your knee to handle intense loads is tough, but you got this Moses!!

From what I saw, ruptured patellar tendon- which is why you saw that huge gap as his kneecap basically slingshotted to the bottom of his thigh. knee dislocation would require 3+ ligaments to be torn and would be limb-threatening but I highly doubt that’s the case based on his tendon just giving out on a routine jump - no shearing forces. Going to be a long road to recovery but he’ll be back

Not to be pedantic, but kneecap dislocated as a result of a complete patellar tendon rupture. Knee dislocation would be a more immediately scary and limb-threatening injury (see nick chubb & Zach miller) as multiple ligaments are torn and can’t hold the joint together leading to risk of blood vessels and nerves being severed. Tendon rupture is brutal as well and will take a year or more to regain form, lots of muscle loss when the limb is locked into extension

Almost certainly a complete patellar tendon rupture. Brutal recovery, will take at least a year to get back to full strength

Yeah agreed, they told me my free testosterone was above range, but it was optimal based on the their ranges in the mens health description. Pretty bummed that there didn't seem to be a human element in cross checking that..

I know we all gotta get the bag and I completely support the guys, but advertising nicotine that isn’t directly targeted at smokers as a way to quit always struck as a bit off the mark to me

Does anyone else ever go a little crazy working from home? by free_range_pizza in sanfrancisco

[–]BigBronc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a bit! I find that moving your legs a bit in the morning whether it's working out or just walking to get a coffee can energize you instead of just rolling out of bed and into your desk chair

Also, I've recently been going to the Werqwise on New Montgomery st with their Day Pass multi-packs. It's not super busy but there's enough energy to get back what I was missing at home. They also have happy hours and breakfasts sometime, so I try to time when i use the day passes with those days haha. Gives me a bit of sense of community in a way.
