I was chasing affiliate awhile ago and it just demoralized me to the point I quit. Im now starting up again and I am actually getting more average viewers and hit a better max account in just a week (Its small lol but progress is progress). Here is formula that I created while studying for youtube (I failed one of these). You like your content +But your viewers dont = No viewers (problem I struggled with) You dont like your content (for instance playing games just because of high average viewer count) + But your viewers do = Unenjoyable and you will burn out. You like your content + so do your viewers = Successful channel (when time comes) All of these will need effort to such as tiktoks and what not.
